I think its impossible.
I used yaris ones and machined then thinner to fit down the tube. It would have to be tiny at the top to fit under a cover. Probably need a creative way of overcoming the cover problem instead.
Hi all,
I am getting misleading info from most of the usual places on the interweb regarding running other toyota COP units in the 4AGE 20V engines.
I basically want to know if anyone has a proven setup that will fit underneath the factory spark plug cover?
Thanks,
Dan - RT40

doh! I have a nicely painted set of covers, and i want COP. I shall investigate this further, even if i have to space the middle cover up 5mm or something, i dont want it to look that out of place though. hmmm...

I can give you a very solid no, even if I don't run my coilpack adapter plate, remove the seal and push a 1NZ coil down hard it will only drop another 2mm from using the adapter plate.
The area around the oil filling hole is the issue and you would have to remove a lot of material to get close to fitting the cover, and then it would be closer.
After all that it will be like a Nissan, cooking coils all over the place.
hmm maybe i can hide coils elsewhere then and just run conventional leads.
I also dont think "cooking coils" will be a problem as I am using CDI and not "transistorized" dwell ignition. :-)

I won't pretend to know much about CDI or anything like that but yes if you want the cover on run some leads. I used to have the coils hanging off the back of my strut brace, that used to look ok. Or how about on your firewall but with a sheet metal cover over them to make it look decent?
hmm some good ideas there sam, thanks mate. might be able to hide them somewhere more out of sight, shall dwell on this again later :-)
thanks for the confirmation though bud! muchly appreciated!

happy to be of service, if you make something post it here. Always good to see something new
shall do mate, i doubt from what you have said though, that i will get some coils to fit under there. shall investigate nonetheless though.

well unless you can find some coils that are even more slim than 1NZ? something non toyota? otherwise your definately going to have to put them elsewhere
shall hunt around. doubt i will find some, but i can try.
thanks again. :-)

cant cut holes out of the cover to suit?
would prefer not to mate, dont want to ruin the look of it.

Remote mount the coils on the firewall and run leads out the back of the cover. Coils will be hidden away from heat and vibes, etc.
SHEPPO..
yep SHEPPO that is my backup plan. :-)
