As far as I know they are the same part, but bear in mind that changing a water pump in a ZE is a bastard of a job (I hooked up an electric on so I'd never have to di it again). Changing a pulley is a breeze in comparison.
Hey guys i am going to be fitting a nevo on soon and wanting to replace my water pump .. Is the bigport waterpump the same as the 4agze afm bigports or is there a difference ? i needa know as i dont wanna go out and buy a 4age one and find its different , or some parts supplier tells me there is a difference when there not !!!
if anyone has any idea or would know this could you please verify this for me Cheers

its a bastard of job as in no room ? all fwd are bastards to workon
You have to take everything off to get at the bloody thing. I've only done the mr2, but, I had to remove the alternator and its bracket to get the plate behind the cam pulleys off.
if the back halfs not leaking and is in good nick you might get away with just changing the front cover! dont use to much sealant as you dont want inside the engine etc.
been a few years since i have looked at on with the blower still on it! bloody turbo's!lol
no get a genuine one and do the lot, its common for the oring to need doing.
the waterpump on the 4agze is the same as the same year 4age. and i think all 16vs ones are the same, or at least the redtop ones are the same as each other, cant be arsed looking on the epc to cheek
as for doing the job.....
you need to get under it
theres a pipe from the back of the pump the runs along the back of the motor to the thermostat housing on that sits on the gear box. disconnect that pipe from the stat housing. unbolt it from the block.
when youv got the cam belt off (replace the cam belt and tensioner unless they have just been done) undo the water pump from the block, jiggle it around and out untill you can get a long extension in from the back (by that pipe) to undo the 2 bolts holding the pipe to the pump. then you can remove the pump.
fitment is the reverse, a little fiddly but only about 20-30mins longer than doing a 4age.
EWP. That is all.
Oh, and I'm making up adaptors for the EWP-block

yet to see a untouched factory oring ever have a problem on the waterpumps! but im sure one or two would have out of the 100,000 4ag's.

resonably common on the a series and e series.
we sell a few a week
but when you think of the number of a and e engines out there......
i take you mean waterpumps not orings! lol
the heat from the engine causes it to harden over time... the one on my mums 4AC was rock hard....
same goes for dizzy o-rings...
nitrile o-rings just don't last (and stay soft that is..) get either Viton (the orange ones) or silicon and they won't harden....
here's a nice chart for ya

for the water pump, if you never want it to fail, i'd go Kalrez.. due to it's better steam properties...

but stew if the oring is incapsulated and has not been disturded , how does it leak! lolOriginally Posted by oldcorollas
theres one for you stew![]()
maybe diffrent thermal properties of the two metals?![]()
How do you get the pipe out without removing the supercharger first? I'm sure when I looked at it, there was something in the way...Originally Posted by Mr Revhead
