Default aem uego wideband help/ auto electrical question

    hi
last weekend i installed my aem eugo wideband gauge ,gave it its own clean chassis earth and shared acc power with my ebc .

gauge seemed to work fine all week without a sensor attached (obviously not reading afrs).

Now i have the sensor installed in the dump pipe it reads afrs fine and seems do everythign it should

except once the sensor is up to temp ,and i turn the car off it is staying on and keeping my other gauges on, and ebc flashing
on off on off. and seem like only way to turn them off is disconnect battery -

if i only start the car for a few second and turn it off they all turn off correctly.
seems only like it only stays on after sensor gets up to operating temp

also notice while driving if i give it boost the head unit seems to short out or somethin

only since installing the wideband sensor

so what did i do wrong?

could the wires goin to the sensor have touched the exhaust and shorting out?
here is a link to the instruction manual

    any help appreciated
    cheers ,matt

ide suggest the short will be under your dash somewhere... does the car have a turbo timer or has it ever had one... check that wiring isnt somehow connecting to that harness or shorting to it... kinda hard to really give you much advice other than pull it all out and check it...

no turbo timer and never had one that i know of , will just have to look at and possibly redo the wiring of my headunit , ebc, and gauges to eliminate them, just seems werid to only ahppen once the sensor was installed

ok i pulled out headunit , ebc ,boost gauge and aem wideband gauge, checked all conections shortened wires and neatend it all up
re soldered suspect connections ,to put it all back together and have the same problem

if i disconnect the aem gauge and sensor , when i turn off the ignition headunit , ebc and boost gauge all turn off normally

if i conect aem gauge too but not the sensor it works normally also

but if i conect the sensor to the gauge powering the sensor (once it gets to temp) if i turn off the key and remove it the aem stays on , boost gauge stays on,headunit turns off and the ebc flashes on and off

so to me it seems soemthing to do with the sensor but unsure what

ok thought there would be more auto electrical savvy people on here
what best to do , buy turbo timer harness and rewire the power to the aem wideband gauge using that so dont have to cut loom?

    ok , fixed it finally
had to change acc power source, from sharing with headunit, ebc, and other gauges . It didnt like that for some reason

its now sharing acc power with the only the clock and working normal
thanks to those that tried to help

Just curious, did you use any relay previously? Sensor heater pulls substantial current and it might load the key switch. Also, i think it's better to connect the AEM to ignition (IGN), not ACC as you don't want the sensor heated without the engine running.

no relays, just says wire to a 10A fused power , dont think having it wired to acc is a prob i dont ever sit around with acc on , just turn the key and drive

although doubt not having the engine running would hurt the sensor would just read leaner?

+ aem install one on a wrx here to acc so cant hurt

i personally prefer to have a relay as this could be the cause of your intermittent problem. i dunno, wiring it directly might overload the key switch causing the connector to somehow stick? but if it's okay now, nevermind.

yeah, i do agree. i believe there's a temperature sensor also on the Bosch LSU unit, preventing the sensor to overheat. what worries me is the LSU might overheat from not having the engine running but not sure about this. anyway, i just suggested the same warning i found on SLC DIY's document.

Hi, I have just fitted an Innotech Motorsport LC-1 Wideband AFR assembly and in its manual they recommend connecting the power to 12V+ ignition, as the sensor can get damaged from heating up and having condensate (that forms naturally in exhausts when the engine cools) hit it causing heatshock.

    Just my 5 cents
