I think we will need to find a venue that can accommodate more than 120 cars next year, but hopefully with the same relaxed feel.

With more notice, and word of mouth based on this year, there should be quite an increase. There certainly were cars that were in the carpark that could have made it on the grass if they had gotten out of bed in time

We will also need a better carpark... at one stage the outside carpark was massively out of control!

Yeah, when I was trying to reverse out of my parking spot, some crazy guy in a very nice Blue Honda Civic was shouting obscenities at me in Japanese.

I think I'm safe to say that here as he isn't on this forum!

I'm just jealous he was there in something Japanese and I wasn't......

I reckon it was a great venue just need to take over more of those ovals that they had there, i feel it could be as good as Hanging rock if we took over enough ovals ..

I agree it was a great venue, but we have reached its limitations already with our first show.

We would need to park spectators cars on one of the ovals if we did it at this venue again.. so people would need to commit to being traffic directors for the duration of the event or we would need shifts. Not sure we want that as its not much fun.

I am not sure Parks Victoria would want that either. The risk from idiocy is far greater when its just Joe Blow.

They also have a massive number of fees they want to charge for marquees, food vendors, number of people attending, etc etc etc, so I would like to find some where that just charges for their ground hire regardless of what we do.

Frank is keen for the venue to be central-ish still, so that adds complexity, but I think its a good target to have.

Any ways I don't want to turn this thread into a discussion on next years venue, please bring your ideas to the next club meeting so that we can have a good debrief and start working on 2012.

What about the Werribee Mansion grounds you could fit stacks of cars in there

good call MS65 but that is also Parks Victoria
so the permit issue arises again
there are a few venues that could work
I feel prefererably with passing traffic
I'm sure there will be a sub committee to join this time
to reduce the work load on the few that tirelessly put this one together

I liked the venue location. It was nice an open and relatively close to Melbourne CBD so I'd assume fairly central to most. I understand the need for more space though. Pity.

I think the open park type venue is the way to go, it gives mum and the kids the option to do other things in the parklands while the dads drool and slobber over the displays. As Ian suggested, Yarra Glen racecourse would be an ideal venue with plenty of parking and display areas. They house the Vic rally car pit area up there when they come to town. Heaps of people visit the area on weekends and the by-pass goes right past the track so its clearly visible to passing traffic. All depends on costs and permits I suppose.

Just wondering, any idea how much money was raised by this event for the Beyond Blue foundation?
