I need to weigh up the pro's and con's to getting it done to be honest, due to some bloke has two 2TG's which he might be selling to me (1 of them) if the compression is good, and if the port ect is around $300 I'm not sure if i should wait and just get the 2TG's head done instead..

I've got a manual so I might give the valve clearances a crack but if that doesn't work out or if im lost ill get my mechanic mate to do it for me.

Question, is there that much of a difference in performance from the 2T to the 2TG with twin side drafts?

    Cheers,
    Tyler.

Alrighty, Got the cylinder head off of the block. I have limited car engine experience so im not sure what to make of what ive found. Here are a few pics:

    Cheers,
    Tyler.

p.s: How do I go about cleaning the top of the block? The gasket has part of it stuck to it which my gasket scrapper doesnt wanna let me scrape off.. What do you guys think about the condition of the pistons from what the picture shows?

Holy carp, maybe your head gasket IS causing the oil leak, judging by that pic...
Is it just me, or does it look like some of the valve cutouts are missing off the top of piston 2&3?!? Can't really judge the condition of the pistons without pulling them out, but it looks fairly normal from the top, doesn't look like it's been pinging or anything. But if you're going to be putting a 2TG in anyway, I'd say down tools until the new motor comes in and save yourself some trouble

Yeah it's abit dodgy hey. It isn't just you it was missing I punchered a hole through it with a screw driver as it was blocked. Yeah I'm going to hold out on getting the head done until I can get the engine, if I cant ill probably just keep searching.

    Cheers for the reply bro.

'I've scrapped better.' John stated when asked about the car by the guy with the silver tipped cowboy boots!
