Default testing tridon thermo fan switch

I brought this about 2 months ago

    TFS213 Fan switch

    Thread - M22 x 1.5
Circuit - Dual Normally Open - Normally Open
    Temp Range: 95ºC to 90ºC and 102ºC to 97ºC
    Spanner - 22mm
    Replaces original black part.

Now im not completely sure if its faulty or not.

The first circuit seems to be coming on at 95deg but the second one isnt. I was testing by putting into a pot of shallow water on a gas burner. Had it going flat-out but the second one still didnt come on. I dont have a thermometer that i can stick in the pot but im pretty sure it should be soaking up more then 102deg so it should come on right?

I have the main pin connected to +12v and using a multi meter to probe the other two pins

Just want to make sure before i go back and try and claim warranty because they are insisting it has to be sent back for testing. I noticed when i had a overheating issue that the second fan didnt come on and thought it probably would have done so this prompted me to test it.

Water boils at 100 deg, so I wouldn't think it would get any hotter than that without coolant. Or would it?

    Hi,

Correct. You can try and add a fist full of salt, which will raise the boiling temperature... and maybe enough to hit 102 degress.

Mind you, give it a good wash afterwards to remove the salt.
