Some oil pumps have a place where you can unscrew some sort of breather perhaps ( ) and screw in a fitting to run the oil line to the gauge. that was what my brother 308 had but the 2JZ oil pump might have a different set up not sure. just a thought

If your playing with expensive guages and its for a race car, I'd try and pay a mechanic/auto elec friend to do it for you....
I've never played with mechanical guages before so not sure if a beginner could do it.

I am just about to fit the Defi-DIN Gauge kit into my car (Oil Temp, Water Temp and Oil Pressure) and I was going to run a Oil Filter Sandwich plate between the Block and the Oil filter - and mount the Oil Temp and Oil Pressure from there.

The Water Temp I was still deciding, but was looking at either..

    1. Drill and Tap into the existing thermostat housing, just before the two existing thermocouples.
    2. Make a custom length of pipe to replace a section of the top radiator hose and tap the new thermocouple into that length.

I like the idea of running a t piece into one of the existing thermocouples - any ideas where to buy such a t piece ??

Personally i wouldnt T off the existing thermocouples, mainly due to the vibration cracking the T piece. The T-pieces are normally brass and arnt the nicest for stress fractures.
Although with the extra diameter and lower weight associated with temp senders and thermoswitches....

Just to extend on that, If you don't wanna buy the bolt, you can remove it, drill it and tap it to whatever your needs are. Handy info.

for your water temp you can simply grab one of these and attach it to the upper radiator hose.

Here is the place where i bought mine from

    https://www.americanautos.com.au/cgi...&option=547-13

They are located at north strathfield in sydney.

You are obviously just going to need to get the right size for you as that one was a 34mm which is what i needed

Sure. But cheap cast brass fittings with not much meat to them have a fairly high tendancy to crack off in the block. At least when people mount oil senders off them on the 4A....

sorry to bring up an old thread but better then creating a new one, Im trying to decide where to run the power from for my gauges but can really figure it out , there was a post that mentioned just running it off one of the speakers?? Would this work, Or could I just splice into the stereo power wire and run directly from that, and run an inline fuse just for good measure.

I also have omori meters , the water temp has the fitting kit to go in between the radiator piping, but which pipe would get a more accurate temp, the top or bottom hose.

Also got an oil pressure gauge, and just trying to figure out where to run it, I do have an oil filter sandwhich plate but not to sure if I should use it as it was abit of an impulse buy and now I have the buyers remorse because it is name brand and expensive.

On the block (4ac) in between the start of engine and the oil filter there is some sort of screw hole type fitting, which I was thinking to put the pressure senser into, but Unsure whether it will get an good reading or, read anything for that matter. ill get a pic of it just for some clarity.

run the power for gauges by splicing them into the power for the dash lights, so when you turn your lights on the gauges will turn on as well, use a multimeter to determine which wires are your powers.
that hole you are mentioning should be where you place it, put up a pic if u want.

cigarrette lighter power is on whenever your ignition is on.

Or use the ignition input from the radio.

Or find the ignition wire from the steering column...

    Plenty of places

water temp sender unit normally goes into the top hose, that's how hot the water coming out of the head is... and usually indicates the "status" of the head.

i'd advise you to use the oil filter sandwich plate as it's the easier and least messy way to get the oil temp / pressure signal. However if you would like to sell it, put it up on classifieds (i know i'd buy it as i need one but i need it with provision for the oil cooler)...

i don't remember the 4A-C having any hole u can tap in the sump / block for the gauge but it's been 3 years since i touched a 4A-C and i must say i dun recall any block being able to tap into so easily by just removing a screw..
