    Just went and had a quick look and found a blown fuse, not sure which one though as the cover isnt there. Its second from the bottom, the inside of the fuse had all black fire marks ect and the fuse had snapped in the middle. Time to research which fuse this is for.

    Supposedly the bottom one is for the wipers or something, they dont wanna go on even though i replaced the fuse (possibly due to my battery becoming flat from stuffing around yesterday) and the bottom fuse place is supposed to be for the turning lights though there is no fuse in there and they work still :S

    Sounds like the wiring is a bit dodgy, what year Ta22 is it ?. the red flat light I have does not have a ballast resistor but my RA28 did have one before I converted it to electronic. there is also a main relay that may be worth looking at. when you turn the ignition on you should here it click on, I cant remember its location but it may be on the drivers side inner fender.

    The TA22 is 1975 im pretty sure. the main relay is some narva unit near the voltage regulator and that does click so there is power being supplied to that.

    Hey dave,

    I did what you said and connected a lead straight from the postive terminal on the battery and onto the positive terminal on the coil, started and continued to run fine. Then for some reason I took off the ballast resistor and hooked the wire which was on it straight to the + terminal on the coil and removed the coil from the postive terminal on the battery and the car runs fine!! weird??

    so alls good, I hope your going to see all the toyotas on sunday, Toyotas in the park, just near the bell tower, I cant make it but there will be quite a few clasic celicas and modified toyotas starts at around 9.30. show and shine type stuff put on by TECCWA a local wa based toyota club.

    Sorry about this Dave, but you seem to be the most knowledgable person I've talked too about the celicas so far but could you please help me out with another problem, if you don't wanna thats all good!

    I wanted to replace my pvc value with a mini air breather like Ive seen some cars have. Half of the reason was due to the car was getting oil in the air filter and it could have been possibly from a fault pcv value as my compression was okay, so I took out the pvc valve and grommet and the hose which was connected to the intake manifold (under the weber). Stuck the mini air breather into the hole where the pvc was on the rocker cover and then blocked the part on the intake mani where the hose connected too. Went to start car and it started to miss fire and do all this f***** up stuff. You have any clue why?

    ...was it misfiring of just running badly??.......i say just put all the stuff back on and then just take the breather pipe off the carb and plug your finger over it while it is running......it should continue to run the same once you have your finger blocked over the pipe....if not then there are problems elsewhere.....vacuum leaks are usually the reason why it runs rough and pops and splutters at idle if you haven't touched the timing or anything else.

    Hey Rabbit,

    It was misfiring, it had never done it before i took the pvc off ect. I put all the stuff back on and it runs fine now. Whenever I gave it throttle when I had the breather on and the inlet blocked on the intake manifold the car would build up pressure and kind of 'pop', it was weird, it was also stalling out when the breather was on. But I connected the Pcv on and connected it back to the intake manifold and it runs fine.. weird..
