Put engine searching on the side for a bit. Trying to sort wheels and suspension before Toyotafest.

started working on the 2nd hand motor yesterday, mainly to make sure the alternator will clear the new plenum which it will -bonus! now it goes off to get welded back up with the bellmouths + baffle inside and the angle corrected

while i was at it i stripped off all the unnecessary crap, gave it a good bath and fitted up the sensors, oil cooler/filter, retorqued head and also setup the crank angle sensor for the waste spark ignition. looking forward to making my new engine loom, its 10 wires all up including the alternator. i will probably have 1 plug on each side of the motor to disconnect it from the body making engine removals a breeze.
loving the clean look with nothing over the rocker covers and no injectors/rail/loom/dizzy

heres how ill be running my motor in before the triple 40mm dellortos go on should sound horn!

    spreadbore 650 (2 x 34 + 2 x 50mm butterflies -twice stock throttle area) double pumper w/mech secondaries

actually hoping to drop a motor in with the hollley in the next few weeks.

A 465 would have been a better choice, that 650 is nearly a double the size it should be.

best bet would be a 1404 edelbrock with secodary airvalve.

Nice one, nothing nicer than a clean CA signal, whats running the wasted spark system?

ford EDIS module with a Megajolt box behind it for laptop progamming

i run a 425cfm LPG mixer on my stock motor daily with no probs, i dont think 650 is over the top in this application

Yep i do alot of the impco 425 setups, gotta remember gas mixers only use the required airflow via the diaphragm so if it only need 300cfm it will only use it. We make 450-500whp with those 650's so its about twice the carb you need.

Honestly as its setup for spread bore chuck on a Q-jet as it has the secondary airvalve which delivers the secondaries with airflow demand not just a straight opening action like the holley. I just did a 351 with a 650 demon on it and it made the same peak power but 15rwkw more low and mid with a 500cfm edelbrock afb carb. All because it kept airspeed up and it gets 70km more out of a 60l tank of fuel. The q-jet and AFB have smaller primaries so you will make more torque and low end hp without sacrificing top end.

PS if its sound your chasing the q-jet sounds crazy due to the large secondary's.

Here is a good write up on the q-jet, sorry i just dont have the time to write it up.

    Quadrajet

got half the rear end back together on the weekend, as soon as its rolling it can come into the shed to get the motor dropped in. then i just have to finalise the fuel system and wire up the ignition then im set

i have done the engine loom tho, sooo simple i love it. ill try and grab some pics.
