oh yeah and the car ran before i pulled the motor out... not sure if anyone has rooted around with the cabin wiring while it was out, but im suspecting its something ive done in the engine bay.
hey guys i need some pointers with this one
just rebuilt the 7m-gte that was POORLY converted (not by me) into a mates Z10 soarer.
the wiring is an abortion, still seems to have a lot of old plugs/wiring that go nowhere, the 7mgte loom + factory ecu then a MicroWreck (Lx10?) and ignition booster thing (x4?)
plugged all the usual stuff back into the motor when i put it in and nutted out the main power and earths at the battery. i now get cranking, dash lights and occasionally Microtech lights. no power to coil no matter what.
main issue is that it keeps blowing a 15a fuse, whenever it blows we loose the Microtech too. tried a 20 but still blew. Fuse blowing is intermittent, sometimes as soon as you turn key to IGN, other times its fine for a lil bit.
Probe the fuse holder with multimeter and one side has 14Mohms to ground, the other has between 60ohms and .6Mohms depending what mood its in. wiggling most wires doesnt seem to change the resistance (or make it blow the fuse). does this mean i have a short to ground somewhere
Any ideas where i should be looking? wiring is not my strong point, and ive never played with aftermarket ecus before.
heading off in about an hour to try and get it running, any pointers would be VERY helpful otherwise i will just pull my hair out.

Honestly the help you'll get is just restart haha! So much easier, nice easy loom and tidy, hide her through the guards, microleb will
Be a piece of piss to wire up![]()
agreed, start from scratch! If you dont wanna blow $195 on a micro-wank split loom, I can should you where to get the plugs to suit for cheap, you then just need to grab some cable.

yeah i know a rewire is the proper solution but it well above the scope for this job. i just need to get it running as it was before i pulled the donk out.
either way, had some success tonight, isolated the short to one of the alt wires, if i held it all away from the body the fuse stayed intact. it was also missing the +ve feed to the coilpack, bridged this straight to the battery and it puuurrrrrrreedddd like a kitten
will go back on the weekend and tidy up everything, rewire the alt and call it job done.
gotta love a motor that can still have 2 coins standing upright on the rocker covers at 3000 rpm straight after it first fires![]()
