i couldnt see why it wouldnt work...
but that being said it might be nice to be able to bang it from top gear straight to neutral if in need rather than having to go 3rd 2nd 1st neutral...
Hi, im in the middle of swapping to an auto in my cressida. Have got a B&M shifter and shift kit and will be wiring it up this way
http://www.toymods.org.au/forums/tech-conversions/54880-how-manual-shift-a340-under-$10.html
Because im running a B&M shifter and can only select one gear at a time it would make sense to have the shifter go . . .

instead of the normal way.
My question is is there any reason why i cant wire up the soleniods this way off the selector? If not what are the other ways it can be done?

Can't do it as far as i'm aware, due to there being manual hydraulic circuits activated by the position of the shift lever as well, not just controlled by the electronic solenoids. Have a chat to Mike at MV Autos in South Australia to confirm for sure.
As midnight said, being able to go from speed (3rd gear) straight to neutral is a good safeguard too.
Cheers

some sort of servo-positioned air-shifter might do it, but it would be a massive PITA to get right.
