Hi all, im not a big fan of the lag but i love big hp cars. Im a bit of a noob when it comes to sequential setups and would like to learn more about it. The motor id like to do this to is a 2JZ.
Ive seen a couple of pics of a basic looking setup but found that most setups like the one in the picture are all diesels. Would something like this work on a 2JZ??? Looks easy enough to fabricate.

ok with those different words googled came up with a result that it has been done to a 2jz but details are limited. Im wondering how the wastegate setup/s would go or would there be any bypass valves etc?

it would greatly depend on what the purpose of the engine/car is - the diesel guys who do this are into weird shit like tractor pulling so they;'re more about increasing boost as much as possible.
2 cent opinion: stuffing that much boost into a 2JZ would turn it into an undrivable tyre-destruction machine. If want an uber powerful yet till drivable 2JZ, follow RZ's example.
The road-going twin-charge examples (Brett's 3RZ and Stocky's RB30 on performance forums) seem to follow the supercharger+turbo route and the twin-charge thread(s) on here tend to support their development direction.
wtfauto's first sequential system was on a 2jz, supra named mesmerize. uses a little turbo for quick spool and a big turbo for big power.

Having been for a ride in 2 cars he has done these kits for.. i cant rate his work highly enough..
The original kit was on a 2jz and he experimented with many different options before developing the final product.. he is a world of information on this sorta shit..

If you are chasing only 500whp with good response, I think a Holset HE351VE variable geometry turbo would do it. Tiny problem with them is you need to cut the CAN VGT actuator mount off to run in high-mount config and make your own actuator. There are bigger HE431, 451 and 551 turbos too, some are electronic actuated, others are pneumatic.
err the factory setup is seq so why reinvent something complex that's already complex enoughHiflo the stockie and 500rwhwp is easy enough with nearly stock boost response.

OP,
we have plenty of diesel prime movers in the heavy transport industry running compound turbo set ups like pictured in post #1. the idea is the air enters the first turbo and will be compressed from atmo to (say) 25psi. this is the first stage and the easiest of the two stages of compressing air, hence why that turbo is driven off the waste gasses from the secondary turbo. the air then enters the second turbo and gets compressed again from 25psi up to the target boost (say 50psi). This is harder to do, hence why the most direct exhaust flow is used. So air flow enters the primary turbo that is second in line for exhaust gast.... confused yet? So the boost is being compounded from one turbo to the next, hence the name "compound turbo" set up.
compounding is different to "twin charging". twin charging is commonly known as running a turbo and supercharger... the supercharger gives the engine a strong low-mid range, and then the turbo takes over for top end. what is nice about this set up is the added airflow the engine gets from the supercharger makes it feel like a much larger motor, and will spool up a larger turbo quickly. have a look at the 4agze+t kit that HKS made, or the twin charged VW golf engine that is currently available (1.4L that will make 125fwkw standard!).
the twin turbo set up pictured on the 2JZ is slightly different, and isn't really a compound set up, more so a sequential set up. his youtube video explains how it works.
