    Default 1GGTE turbo questions

hey just got a Ga70 supra and im lookin at performance upgrades, im only an apprentice so i dont earn much so was thinking to start off....

    1. disconnect the a/c belt so there is less strain on engine
    2. remove the origional engine fan and fit thermo fans
    3. i have been told the 1G stock can run 14 psi fine so i was gonna up the boost to 12psi as it will be my daily.
    4. fit a bigger intercooler.

if i up the boost to 12-14 psi would i need to fit a BOV? or would it be alright?

it already has a cat back exhaust.

any other easy mods? i have heard about these piggy back things wat do they do and how expensive are they roughly?? and how much performance do you get out of them??

    thanks

Removing A/c belt is a waste of time

Swapping to electric fans is a good idea, but I doubt u'll feel any power gains at all

Up the boost to just before fuel cut... this is around 14psi but varies across cars.

Intercooler with proper pipes and joints is a great idea

A set of dumps and full exhaust is worth doing if u plan to keep the twins.

Do yourself a favour and save up for a single Turbo and manifold

Piggy backs intercept the sensor signals to the Ecu and make sure the engine is getting the right air fuel ratio and spark timing. Their success is entirely dependant on which one you choose, and how well you set it up. It's. A cheap and inferior substitute for an aftermarket programmable Ecuador.

To clarify why removing the A/C belt is a waste of time... When the A/C is turned off, a clutch disengages the pump so the pulley is essentially free-wheeling. The resistance against the engine would therefore be tiny and totally unnoticeable.

    What he said^^^

Thermo fans are good, cost they only run when needed, and give full flow at idle if required. Viscous fans absorb most power at speed and under acceleration, so aren't ideal. Whether u'd notice this is debatable though.

Decent intercooler and exhaust is key to getting these things breathing freely, then swap the laggy yet somehow restrictive twin turbos with something more modern and easier to fit dumps to.
