There are plenty of direct fit upgrade springs for 7Ms. With the Chevy springs reference in his post maybe he's talking about something else?
Brian Crower does Valve springs/retainer kits for 7mge/gte as well.
If in doubt power out

Project megap00 - Gave up and sold up. Money tree died
What about an extra washer under the base for a bit more preload? After checking for coil bind it may give an extra 500 - 1000rpm before they valves start to float around.
they are the inner spring of a double set for SBC, comp cams #975, indeed the ones all the US guys bang on about. they must sell a lot for 7m's as you can buy them in boxes of 12 and they are for dirty 16v V8 rubbish. they are also a steal at $100 and about 60lb from memory.
people mention "slight binding" regarding the fit, but in reality you have to press the seat on bloody hard and then its well and truly stuck on there. i have no problem with the spring being held tight but i dont like the idea of 1/2 the 1st coil machining part of the seat away every time a valve opens. id much rather do that beforehand and put the swarf in the bin instead of in my oil!!
ive got these now so ill use em, its just a matter of how. next bet will be to part the top section off and just have the base. i believe 4age's are like this, i should pull my spare bigport apart and see. id like to keep the outside of the spring captive so it all goes together square but im sure it will work either way. i CBF turning up a new set of seats and rooting around getting them hardened.

boxhead did you end up getting new cams?
Black MA70 Supra, 2JZ w/ Borg Warner s360, 464rwkw
I did end up getting some cams ground, however I have not yet installed them. Whilst I'm tempted to chuck them in and see what gains I get, I don't think it is wise with the rest of my current setup. I'm sure I will be needing more turbo to realise the (hopefully possible) gains in flow, as I think it is pretty well maxed out.
I need to work out how I'm going to make up the base circle lost due to grinding too.
Could be a while yet. When I get everything sorted, I'll hopefully be able to do before and after runs with only the cams changed to get some concrete numbers on whether it is worthwhile.

I have a spare set of stock 7M cams that I'll part with for say, half a tank of petrol. You can play with these and keep your original cams. I'm in Sydney
The grinds were done on spares I had (I have quite a few), so I don't need any more thanks Peter.
Cheers.

You need "lash cap"s on top of the valves to be able adjust the lash.
One example: http://www.summitracing.com/parts/man-42264-8/overview/
yeah ive never been keen on those. maybe in an old pig v8 with vertical valves and rockers, but in a 7m application if you get valve bounce and they were to come off the valve stem its got nowhere to go but get stuck between the lifter and retainer and dropping a valve into a piston. there's not a whole lot of stem for them to hang on to...
hosking1991 used these on his head and didnt have any issues but its just not my cup of tea.

Well,if you float the valves the adjusting shims too are all over the place..
You going to install some agressive cams with stock springs? I quess not.
Then your only alternative is to find and install longer valves.Even if you happen to find thick enough adjusting shims they would be... HEAVY!
The 20v engines use those little caps under the buckets from factory. They spin to 8000RPM on stock internals no worries.
The 20v 4AG's have those "lash cap"s instead of adjusting shims or even "under the bucket" small shims. The lash caps are available at different thickness to adjust the clearance. How I didn't first mentioned the factory solution!
BTW the 3S-GE Blacktop/Redtop use just the same shims as 2T-G/18R-G..
Yeah, looking into lash caps or thicker shims as the easy options, or depending on time frames / budgets / availability to go with something more substantial like 2jz valves into the head or convert to shim under.
Shims is looking the most likely at this stage, but we'll see when I get a bit closer.
