1MZ auto into Z20 soarer

DJ labby if this will be your first conversion a 1mz rwd conversion would be a massive undertaking. If you think you can pick up a cheap 1mz and just get the right gearbox and whack it in . . . think again. While the idea is cool and id love to put a 1mz into something rwd myself realistically you have to walk through the door with at least 10k for custom everything to make it work, turbo'd 1mz with custom mounts, sump, inlet manifold, turbo manifolds, exhaust, computer, injectors etc etc. You would have to have alot of time and patience on your hands and be good with a mig and tig (and have one of each) to make it all work effieciently. Id hate to think of what it would cost to get everything done by someone if you didnt have the tools and knowledge to do EVERYTHING yourself.

Like cuzzo said if you think a camry is zippy, pick yourself up a 1jz halfcut, bolt it in and be done with it. If you get bored with a 1jz/2jz just put a single on it and keep winding boost into it until your happy . . . SIMPLE!

Fabrication is no problems, i'm a welder/boilermaker by trade and now a diesel mechanic, well a diesel inspector nowadays.
I did a rb25/30 conversion when it was in its infacy, so had to jump a lot of hurdles. I've put an RB with jatco 3spd into my 1 tonner i'm building. I'm currently putting a 20b in my mates s3 RX7!! what a head fuck. Custom sump, custom mounts, both gearbox and crossmember, custom ex manifold, (oh i make my own manifolds, if anyone wants one, just need a gasket to make a flange from) modification of the gearbox to sit the engine and gear stick in the right places.
I don't let anyone touch my car. And my skyline had 500hp(at engine) and did 11.5@120mph. Actually the only thing i don't do is rebuild gearboxes/auto's and diffs.

Yah i've been thinking about the 1uz conversion. I have seen you can get plans for mounts to be cut for supras and what not, but not for pre 88a70/z20's so will have to be custom. I'm not very good with CAD, but can get it all cut and if i have a plate or something to go off, can get it profiled.

I think my biggest problem is my z20 is my daily and kinda need it, but i have a MZ20 i'm wrecking, so will prob keep the front end to mock everything up in.
I don't think the mz is 'Zippy'. If i wanted a zippy car, i'd buy a corolla or something zippy, but just want something that has some torque and good economy. I'm trying to not go down that, build everything for max power/speed thing and keep my almost immaculate soarer, factoryish and not cut holes and butcher like i did with my skyline and what you see sooooo often.
I think if i give the 1g auto a 3k stally and shift kit, it will loosen everything up and should get it up and going somewhat.
But i might wait to see if i can get a sc400 engine and auto and drop that in. Seems like its a good fit. Yah i'd like to boost it, bout the only way to get serious power, but hey might be enough stock.
