Default Engineers Certificates NSW - Link to list of engineers from RTA *add your recommendat

At the moment I'm trying to find an engineer who I can check with for my current project.
I'm chasing someone who is not dodgy, but is also reasonable & realistic about what mods they will allow.
    eg mods to my project:
    engine
    gearbox
    front & rear brakes
    handbrake
    rad support
    seats
    steering

Maybe we could get a list started to put in the FAQ?

You dont need to create a list - one already exists and is maintained by the controlling government department (RTA)

A search of the old forums would've found this one for you steve

    Spoon Feeding Here

and here is the direct link to the RTA document - http://www.rta.nsw.gov.au/registrati.../vsi/vsi15.pdf

Would still be valid to get a more recent list of recommendations.

Ahh yes, but (now spits food back onto spoon) when you start to ring up the contacts on that list, you get some that don't want to deal with your particular mods, some that find the list of mods done too much & don't want to know about it, some that are too hard to deal with, some that are dodgy
So, like you asked on the old forum, I'm asking now.

I'm after people like that in the old forum, so if you want to follow Witzl's link, then add any others that don't appear, then please do.

    Steve,
I used John Varetimidis when he was working for Frank Lohning, he has been used by a few people here (I think that he did Nark's car).
He is at 17 Lorraine St Peakhurst ph 9153 0011

John Varetimidis is very thourough if that's what you're after. Not having used him myself I can only pass on what I've heard.

The only engineer I've used which I highly recommend is Werner Ihle - Transport Industry Consultants at Kirawee

im using john at the moment as well... he is extremely thourough and wants everything done to the dot... for me that works well cause i dont want to get dicked around on the streets when the cars up and running... also he will allow anything you want as long as it meets the requirements of safety

on a lighter note though, he is extremely helpful... i gave him some ideas i wanted to do and he gave me great feedback and his ideas and opinions which has worked extremely well for me... it even saved me a lot of time and money...

according to many AUSROTARY forum memebrs werner has shot through after being investigated by the RTA and many of his cars are being called in for random inspections as he was passing things that shouldnt be passed ie 13b in datto ute.

i wanted to use him but instead went local to a guy in cardiff in newcastle

Here at work we also use John from Consulmotive. (John Varetimidis - 9153 0011)

He is indeed thourough with an approachable attitude and sound understanding of the guidlines. He won't do anything dodgy which is why we use him !

He is already booked in to do the preliminary inspection on my 2JZ-GE/MS53 conversion. Sure that costs a little extra but it saves allot of last minute reworks for stupid reasons.

The is no point paying for an engineers report that won't hold up to an RTA inspection.

My TA22 was done by Steve Janda (Star Trade - 9541 1500) although for sheer convienience I will most likely have it redone by John once its finished.

I had John V (Consulmotive - Peakhurst) pass my seats for engineering before the engine mods were done. He was very thorough with everything.

Also used Hugh Farrimond, whom Joel (Bigworm) put me onto with the engine conversion.

Can i ask who this is and if u found that person helpful like some of the others say they found their engineers? Im looking at getting started on a conversion early next year and would like to approach the engineer before i begin. Contact details would be nice.

If you are further down towards Canberra or Queanbeyan, then John Wilson of AKZ Engineering is quite reputable, he has done both of my engineered cars and i havnt had a problem with him. I believe he does both ACT and NSW Certificates too.

yes it would also be nice if the rta updated its list of engineers every now and then so that people dont get caught out by going there then the rta saying ahh no we wont accept that certificate bit unfair i thinks
