Its not always the 'rta' its the particular rta you go to and who serves you. When i was putting my ae82 back on the road i took it to blacktown rta to do all the rego etc. when they saw the certificate from werner the atendant showed the manager she then told it would be referred to head office and let us know during the week. they rang us later in the week, knocked us back and had no reason at all!?!
So the following weekend we took the car to a different rta and tried again and passed sucessfully with no troubles. Just goes to show.

i talked to a lot of the local engineers up newcastle way, most had not had experience with my conversion simple 4agze into 4age, front mount, recaro seat. many wanted things like the exact brakes from the ae101 corolla fitted???? etc. but when ringing arround talked to a guy in wyong, kevin humphreys from lakes edge engineering services, knew a hell of a lot about 4age's (had a clubman), supplied certificate for $275 all up. i was very happy given some quotes that i had got.
as a tip try to keep the workmanship on your car to a high standard, if they can see that you dont cut corners, then they can assume that work was carried out correctly.

John at Consulmotive squeezed me in before Christmas, and I have nothing but good things to say about him. Give him a ring though before you start any work though.

i too can vouch for kevin being very helpful. i consulted him a few times then he checked over my car got everything approved and sorted with no issues.

    I beleive he passed away...

The bloke who did my Cressida is a great bloke, but don't expect anything dodgy to get passed. Roger Perkins (Annangrove from memory) - I can not reccomend Roger enough, although he will hate me for promoting him as he has so much work as it is..

If you read the story in Performance Buildups Magazine on my car, you will see what extrordinary lengths he went to at 3am in the morning to get my certificate completed for me after he was called away for a family emergency... The bloke is a legend and very thorough.

Please don't waste his time with dodgy stuff...

Roger has been around for a long while and has done quite a few Toymodders cars.

I'd call his perspective "unique" on how to interperate the rules tho lol. Not saying that in a bad way at all I know guys its been VERY helpful for.

I am pretty sure Roger is actually on the reveiw board fo rthe new guidelines too

hugh is still around but he has moved to the south to berrima or bowral area

the guy who sdly passed away was frank from lohninhg brothers this was about 2 years ago

the best thing to do is go ask some performance shops who they use regularly

and if u sort of go thru a performance shop if u know them well then its abit easier

but like someone said if yr car looks very neat and tidy its ok

some of the cars ive worked on i would not every pay 20 bucks for them

some might even be on this forum hehe

dont go by the rta sheet

go by word of mouth who is good

Hugh is still around, but he is only doing commercial stuff now.

And I'm pretty sure it was Frank that passed, but I think his son (?) is now running the business but not doing certs.

I rang both of these guys before finding JohnV

John Varetimos (?) worked for Frank Lohning (Lohning International). Frank has passed away and John now runs his own shop in the same factory complex right across the driveway from where Lohning was.

Has anyone got contact details for this guy?

Rod, when you say on the review board, what do you mean by that? is he under investigation?

I used a guy called Peter Gillard

my car walked thru his inspection on sat

Having said that many questions wqhere asked before he saw the car, and my whole drive line and chassis is better than new. I think that helped.

Very helpful and was help and good with time to get me to the nationals
