Question regarding a 1976 RA23 Celica.. Please help !!!!

Hi guys...

I have a 5Spd 1976 Toyota Celica with the standard 18RC motor.. After 35 years of faithful service, it is sounding a little tired and I am either going to sell the car as it is in it's original glory, or revamp it !!

By no means am I any sort of mechanic, and my question is...

Besides another old 18RC, what motor will bolt straight into it with the least fuss ??

I'm talking engine out, engine in.. And I would love it to meet up with the current engine mounts, gearbox, and tailshaft !

Am I dreaming, or is there something out there that will satisfy my curiousity ???

An 18RG (Twin cam and twin carb or EFI) version of the 18RC is the only straight bolt in.....beyond that skies the limit

Yep, but you probably want the carbie version, unless you want to spend some coin in getting fuel pumps set up for EFI. Also the throttle linkages are different between the 18R-C and 18R-G, so you'll have to do a bit of fabrication for that aspect. The rest should be bolt in.

The 76 RA23 was my first car, and the 18RG swap was my first ever engine swap. That was 29 years ago... Easy as. Posted for sentimental reasons only...sniff sniff...
