Just give magnecor the clips off your existing leads... I doubt many companies supply these clips with the 3SGTE replacement leads anyway.

Angry Re: Intermittent problems with acceleration..

    grrrrr.... it's happened again!

Just got back from lunch and I've taken off from the lights, and in first gear it's almost died while I have my foot on the accelerator. Also I've noticed that it does it sometimes when decelerating too, but then it's not as noticeable... moreso 'poppy' through the revs.

Ok, so I've eliminated vacuum issues, because that's all good now. It's another warm day today, so I'm wondering if that has something to do with this intermittent problem.

So what's left? Fuel, air intake, spark / leads / ignition system... anything else? The problem is that it doesn't always present itself on demand, so it's very frustrating as you don't know when it's going to happen again next.

Ummm, yeah... two of them are cracked and only just holding on. Where can I source more? Toyota parts?

Ok, I'm narrowing down circumstances and effects of the car when this issue occurs. Let's take a given example:

-- driving through Parramatta on a warmish type day, and with typical Parramatta traffic, it's stop-go most of the way. The motor is usually warm when this happens. The idle will go from stable to slightly poppy, and if you try to take off it will sometimes stall. If it does, it restarts ok, but is hard to get going with a normal throttle. This stabilises eventually with normal running, sometimes the hesitation returns momentarily, but then disappears again after a minute or so.

Possible causes?? Idle control valve, oxygen/O² sensor perhaps? The 'when' factor seems to be a bit more obvious now, but it's trying to work out 'what', 'how' and 'why'.

If you're nice to me I might give you a set that travelled around 50,000km's in japan.

have you checked the output of the TPS? if this is out of whack it may present some of the problems that you have described. im not to familiar with the power FC, but you should be able to view the values.
i think they should be 0.5v for throttle closed and about 4.5-5v when throttle open all the way.
just an idea that might want checking.....

If I'm nice to you?? I found out today that the leads I have (which came off the half-cut) are actually 6mm leads. Didn't know they made 3S leads in this size.

I'll have to pick them up off you sometime soon.. thanks for the offer.

Yep 6mm sounds about right... the factory ones are mighty skinny!

Hey Andrew i couldn't find the box for them so im not 100% sure on size. Is it just the width of the leads? or the width of the core inside the leads? If its just the width of the leads i can go measure them for u pretty easy. I had a quick look on the Top Gun site and the part numbers i got for the leads was:
    st185R - TG4518
    st185 - TG4691
    st205R - TG4664

    Link to the details: http://www.topgunleads.com.au/toyota1.html

    Hope this helps

I don't know where the difference lay between the ST185 and the ST205, but there's 7mm leads available for the ST185 and only 5mm for the ST205.

What I meant was the outside width of the leads. I think mine are some kind of Jap specials, some red silicone leads that are 6mm wide each, and missing a connector or two.
