    Facts : Oil completely pissed out of engine, grub screw is missing from a pressurised oilway.

    Just go with what is *most* likely to have caused the leak, fix it, and most of the time you'll be right. If you have to pull the engine out again, at least it's only bad luck - rather than bad methodology.

    oh - forgot to add that Stu is correct here - Loctite 567 (Master Thread Sealant) is the absolute best shit you can use!! It's designed to work at something spastic like 10,000psi and is resistant to petro-chemicals (ie, petrol, oil, and other nasties found in yer engine).

    i just put some toyota black packing material on the threads that works as they use that on the sump etc ,sometimes we even use it on a old steel gasket as well

    just remember do it once ,but do it properly and take no short cuts ,you have had it in and out for the last 8months another couple of days wont hurt

    That Toyota black "sump-goo" as i call it is actually another LocTite product! I'm just yet to figure out which one....

    Well I hoisted out the engine last night, pulled the sump off, timing gear, oil pump and found the nasty hole.

    Grub screw is back in.. Picked up new oil pump gasket this morning from Toyota.. Hopefully be back together tomorrow night.
