    Default AE102r brake upgrade

    hey guys,
whats the best brake upgrade conversion for this corolla?
I was thinking of just getting cross drilled and slotted rotors but if i can get bigger, or even brakes with more pistons, then even better

also would it be easier to convert a 7AFE to a 20v or drop in a 3SGE?

    cheers

Stick some super strut calipers on the front, decent pads (I used Endless SSS pads which were really good) and a set of slotted rotors. Forget cross drilled, they're just for show.

Also, use decent brake fluid like Motul RBF500 or the like and if you have the cash, rebuild all the calipers.

20v is much easier, get a front cut and slap it in. Forget the 3SGE for now, it's kinda one of those things that if you have to ask, then it's too much to take on.

Is there a reason behind the upgrade? Stock AE102 brakes are already reasonably good, upgraded pads are probably all you need for the street.

well i just want better braking, not so much for racing, my wife and son are frequently in the car and i want it at its best in the worst case.
maybe just slotted rotors and better pads?
    any suggestions?

also, to save starting another threaad, would getting the car dyno tuned improve fuel performance?

    Hello
I have found the stock brakes to be really good with a set of new rotors and EBC green brake pads and rebuilt calipers. I would be more concerned with the quality of tyres for driving around town. Good ones will stop you so much better and run better in the wet.

    oh ok, cool
    green stuff huh? sounds good
it already has 16s with some sticky rubber on them, far better than stock anyway, i just want them to feel stronger, when stopping quickly, they feel like they are barely coping, in my mazda 121 i can stop quickly in that and they feel like they can go harder regrdless, and they are solid disc... fair enough the car only weights 720kgs, but still, i want that feel in the brakes
    piece of mind you know?

Putting your car on the dyno will do nothing but give you a printout of how much power your car is making. You don't have a programmable ECU, so there's no real point.

Start with good pads and a flush with good brake fluid. If you don't get slotted rotors, at least look at getting the rotors machined so they are dead flat.

Maybe getting the cars engine checked, to make sure everything works properly, could help fuel economy. When was the oxygen sensor last replaced? air cleaner? plugs?

good quality discs and quality pads, with quality tyres will be ample braking for this little car.
Dont forget to flush brake fluid as well (makes a big difference!!)
Larger brakes are really only needed if you drive stupidly fast, or want to do REPEATED heavy braking (thus need to avoid brake fade, etc).

My AE102 stops pretty damn well on old fucked discs and some bodget pads, so replacing them with better items would make it quite good IMO.
    ...... butt scratcher?!
