Fram is alleged to be a decent filter?
My oil relocation kit has called for a change in filter thread as a result i have a Ryco Z145A filter on there for the enging run in.
I want to change this to a quality filter to halp protect the engine as much as possible, so im looking at protection over price. Willing to pay more for a better solution, but ideally the brand is readily available.
I beleive the Z145 is a V6 commodore filter.
Can anyone shed some light on some quality replacement filters? I was looking at Mobil 1 but im open to any suggestions people may have.
If it makes any difference i have a high capacity sump and external oil cooler and oil flow is important for track use.

I was under the impression FRAM was one of the worst on the market, prone to collapse, cardboard filters etc.

Yeah screw fram, get a K&N if you have a race shop that stocks them. Otherwise just look through all the filters at supercheap bigger than yours with the same thread but with an o-ring small enough to seal against your relocator plate. Or just use this and use the biggest ryco that fits.
If you're real picky, go to K&N's website and cross reference the ryco app to K&N if they have it and it'll tell you the bypass valve pressures, if it has one. Z145 doesn't
Edit: Some engines have the bypass valve on the engine, some have them in the filter. Either way, make sure you have a bypass somewhere.
What about the genuine nissan filter , at least it if im still correct made in japan unlike toyota,s thai filters.
Dave
Most of the relocators ive used have the same thread and base plate as an SR20 filter, to which you could go genuine nissan at $8 or Nismo at about $20, the nismo item is not an ordinary filter.
ShadowR - your pricing is very keen versus what I've found.
I have also found HKS and blitz racing filters, however the nismo one makes some big promises regarding oil pressure and increasing filtration. For the money Nismo is probably the winner.

I know the bloke who runs the site, he usually keeps stock of them.
Ive used those filters wherever possible, excellent item. You can see the difference just looking into it at the filter medium.
