bump, nobody has info on this?
Ok have searched for the last hour and can't find a clear answer. My question is this:
- My JZZ30 A340 gearbox is p00
- I have 89091664982 UZZ30 A341 gearboxes lying around
- Is it possible to use a 1UZ A341 gearbox with my JZZ30? And if so, what needs to be swapped over to make it all work?
Obviously I will need to swap the bellhousings and maybe the rear housing. Ive also read that the input shafts *might* be different lengths and need swapping over. Can anyone confirm this? What about the torque converter? etc/etc/etc
I find it weird that there isnt a thread about this stuff already that just lists it all nice and plain. Maybe there already is one but I cant find it. Anyways, help a brotha out![]()

hrmm... looks like i am going to be a pioneer then? lol
www.toyodiy.com Look up the EPC to get part the number for the gearbox, tailshaft etc etc for comparison, it even had sketches of the gearbox disassembled.
put you torque convertor from the JZ onto the input shaft from the UZ, see if it spins freely. I did this for the 7M turbo box with UZ convertor and there was a slight grinding on the bell housing (suggesting slight difference in input length). Other than that get a ruler and measure input shafts.
You'll need to check line pressure configs - i.e my uz box is cable controlled and i think a few jz boxes are soleniod controlled.
Both donut output?
Short answer is just get yourself a JZ box and if you have a slip yoke UZ auto give it to me![]()
all my uz autos are uzz30 autos so they have the donut.
line pressure is cable controlled on both afaik
measuring input shaft lengths = was hoping someone could tell me before i pull the box out?dont want the soarer off the road for ages if it turns out they are too different to interchange
get another 1jz autobox? = possible, but i would have to pay for one!! lol i have a million uzz30 a341's so if i can just use one of them it costs me nothing and means i dont have to search for a good condition jzz30 a340
I gave a guy a cressida auto box when he needed a box to get his 2JZ on the road. I wasn't able to get specifics, but he said the input shaft swap was easy, he did it in a couple of hours and his car drove fine with it. Check the repair manuals, but i think the input shaft swap is a matter of unbolting the front seal plate and maybe shaft in and out?? From what i've seen the rear shaft swap takes a bit longer.
Might take some measurements to start a bit of an A340 register...
Before I went manual I had pulled apart my cressida box and uzz30 box and swapped around different parts to make a franken-auto. I think I used the UZ auto mostly, with cressida output shaft. I found almost everything was interchagable, although the UZ had more clutches, and an extra sensor (with reluctor wheel? i forget what they're called).
If the jzz30 auto is the same as an MX83 auto, and I suspect they are, if not very similar, I can't see why you couldn't make it work.
You'll need to change the rear housings, and output shaft, which means you need to (almost) fully dissassemble the thing. The output shafts are held in with a circlip that is only accessible from inside! so pull it apart, swap output and input shafts, and job done?
