Aaron, I would have saved the new tires for after the track day!
I'm sure you are going to shread a bit of tread booting it around the track.

Oh well - you'll need some more tyres once you get new wheels anyway

Yeah but legally I need new tyres now . Only getting the rears and new wheels are on the cards before these get shredded.

Rain + turbo torque + bald on the inside tyres = no fun. I cant corner in the DRY without wheelspin at anything but low speed, what makes you think I'd survive a track

For those of you new to this style of event, here are a few tips tyre wise:

1: You will wear the front outside edges of your tyres like never before from understeer into corners. If you have the ability, consider your front camber to attend to this as best as possible. Plenty of people will jump in and tell you to dial in massive negative camber to remove this issue - and that is fine if you can do it yourself, but to have it done properly will mean two trips to a wheel aligners. Choose your speed, choose your consequences is the saying and it's spot on for this instance.

2: I haven't heard of anyone running R-Comp or slick tyres for this event, so adjust the tyre pressure in your street tyres to help them cope better with the event. I usually arrive at the track with an additional 5-10psi in the tyres over my normal driving pressure and adjust to how the car feels on the day. If you can't feel the differences just run 4-5 psi higher than what is recommended on your tyre placard.

3: Run the best tyres you can and give them a chance to work. You may be restricted to old street tyres but pay attention to age, pressure, condition, wear patterns, and correct tyre to rim and tyre to vehicle sizings. Stretch might look "phat" sitting still in the carpark, but it's a good way to fuck your rims on the circuit - let the tyre's sidewall do what it is supposed to do.

4: As a smooth talking Yank by the name of Brian Goellnicht once told me, "If the world's a blur and you're spinning round, lock it down". You're on street tyres most of which will be past their "use by" date, don't expect them to perform miracles and if the car does come lose, there's no shame in coming off the gas and hitting the brakes - don't forget an event free event means we can bitch about insurance rorts just that little bit more in the pits!

205/45 16x7's. I didn't realize your rims were only 7 inch wide mole LOL I think they're just about right for a car of the AW11's weight....but a supra...god no

and isn't it "If in doubt, Power out?"

Dry weekend ftw. I need to bleed my clutch and brakes. still gonna use the shit EBC pads tho.

I got crappy $35 brake pads on as well They'll be alright tho, its not like we're doing heaps of laps all in a row.

Remember stock JZA70 wheels are 16x7 with 225's, so I'll be at least as good as stock... but with much better tyres then what they could spit out in 1991.

yeah ever since the new motor has gone in the EBC pads just aren't enough at AHG/midvale, even tho it only adds another 20-30kmh top speed on the short tracks. Couple of hard stops and they are smoking. Which is weird considering they are supposed to be a performance pad. But i refuse to change them as they aren't that old, and aren't that cheap.

Once they wear out i'm thinking Endless all round
