    Default JZX90 1JZ into MX83 wiring question

    Toymodders,

I've hit a roadblock with my MX83 1JZ conversion. After extensive research on the wiring side of things before I even thought about removing the 7M, nothing told me about these plugs.
Those who have done the conversion, what are they, what do they do, and are there any diagrams if they're needed? Motor is 1JZ from a JZX90.

Please dumb-down your responses - this is my first wiring project and I'm really only getting by on sheer luck!

Alternatively, if anyone is near Blacktown and would like to come lend a hand over some beers tonight or tomorrow, feel free to PM me!

    Cheers guys,
    Ben.

Those plugs you have pictured are they on the inside side of the engine wiring harness (opposite side of the main grommet to all the other wiring plugs) If so they are the power supplys, earths and instrument wires.

The white one you have circled up in the first picture should have colours brown and brown/black - these are earth wires and are the only ones needed in that harness, the others are for ABS diagnostics and instruments displays that you don't need.

The plug in the second picture top right
Green - fuel pump control relay
    black/white - neutral start switch
red/green - fuel pump control relay from ecu
black/orange (2 wires) - fuel pump control relay
black/red - fuel pump control relay
Pink - fuel pump control relay
all the fuel pump control wires, the only one you require is the one from the ecu to switch your power on/off, just wire the rest as a normal relay and the computer will turn the relay on/off for you. From memory the Pink one is the signal wire.

And then there should be another plug there - possibly the second picture lhs that has these colours.
    Black/yellow - alt supply - requires a 7.5a ignition source
black/orange - Ignition switch - requires 7.5a fuse in on position of switch

And one more connector or maybe one of the ones I mentioned already has these colours
    yellow/black - oil pressure gauge
    blue/yellow - check engine light
    yellow/green - water temp gauge
    black - tacho
    purple/red - oil level light
These ones are usually all in the one connector so you should be able to nut that one out. There is a few more power wires required but they are in the fuse box assembly so depending on how your wiring it all up you may have that connected somewhere else in the harness.

I hope that helps a bit
    Aaron

    Thanks Aaron, massive help!

As I said, first time doing anything like this, so here comes a stupid question:
So the ones you described, they need to be patched into the ECU loom and body loom where I already have these functions?

Yeah that's right, I am not familiar with the mx83 though as i haven't done one, so someone else may have to help you out with that part or you might be able to match them up yourself if you know what that mx83 wiring is.

Just had a quick look for you as this is not an uncommon conversion and these links may be of interest to you.

So I take it these plugs are the same across all factory 1JZ models then?
I found those threads during my research but dismissed them straight away due to not being JZX90 specific.

Not all the JZ plugs are exactly the same but generally the wires within the groups of plugs are kept common and the colours that refer to each wire are generally universal so a yellow/black wire for oil pressure and yellow/green for water temp is generally common so if you see the plug and all the colours match up in the connector sets then its generally easy to convert to your connector layouts based on the different coloured wires in around it.

I hope that makes sense. It made sense to me lol...
