To answer one of your questions:
The ta22 tailshaft does NOT fit into a ae86 t50. They have different splines.
hey guys
just a quick question. Does the yolk on a TA22 manual tailshaft fit into a AE86 T50 manual box? also is a celica manual tailshaft the same length as an auto one?
Thanks for the halp
ok heres my problem!
i've got a 4age and an ae86 T50 in a ta22. the TA was previosely auto. i have an auto Ta22 tailshaft and a manual tailshaft out of an AE86. went to hardy spicer today to get them to modify the auto shaft for me and fit the yolk off the AE86 shaft so the it could fit the application but the uni's on the AE86 shafts are non replaceable items and they are rootedthey really couldn't do much for me

what are my options?
Isn't this what custom tailshafts are for? might be the more expensive option though....
might have to go down that route even though i wasn't really expecting it to cost too much.Originally Posted by ace

this is the only thing holding the car up from being on the road!![]()
Is this for the yellow old schooler TA22?
nah its not for my car but a car im working on!Originally Posted by ace
you probably seen the pics on the classic celica thread, the car is TA2274 the green one. its a friends car and she sort of needs the car back on the road ASAP![]()
i,ve done most of the work on it but this is just holding things up![]()
so have you tried the auto spline on the gearbox? the auto shaft is shorter cuz the auto box is longer.
beer me!
try the tailshaft yoke out of a KE70 wiith import box (not borg warner) or a t-18 as they are often the same as ae86 and usually have removable uni's which can then be joined to your ta22 shaft, But take your old yoke to the wreckers with you and check before you buy.
will do thanks for the adviseOriginally Posted by schnitzel
i know there has to be an easier way out of this than spending big bucks on a custom shaft
