1UZ cam tensioner

Before I undo the wrong bit and spidiong !!Can someone confirm how the cam tensioner is safely removed - is it by rotating the allen bolt to lock or unlock

are you talking about the timing belt tensioner?.. if so firstly obviously time the motor up, remove the hydraulic tensioner and thats it youll be able to remove the belt..

then you have to reset the hydraulic tensioner by compressing it slowly in a vice and locking it with a pin or tiny allen key.. and reinstall, also its a good idea to remove that allen key bolt and clean it, i put antiseize on it and behind it to make sure it doesnt sieze up..
