Default How to replace belts on a 5M-E?

    Hi

I bought some replacement belts for my 5M-E a few weeks back thinking that it would be a rather simple process to swap them over. Well, it has now been a few weeks and the old belts are still on the car! I undid almost every bolt holding the alternator in place, which I assume is meant to be able to slide, but it wouldn't budge. I also tried undoing the pulley bolt on the alternator, but the whole pulley just span.

I really have no idea what I'm doing unfortunately, and searching hasn't really brought anything up. Any advice would be greatly appreciated! I don't think I can stand my drive belt chirping any longer

There's an adjuster along the top of the alternator on the 5M-E out the back mate. It attaches to the top bolt on the alternator. Has a threaded rod with a nut on it. Does yours have something similar? (PS. you owe me a testicule, i lost one of mine going outside to look LOL)

Yeah I had that all apart but no luck in getting it to move, do you reckon I need to undo the bottom bolt on the alternator too? Thanks for the help

You should just need to loosen the bottom bolt mate, doesnt need to come out.
