Default ZZE112 Gearbox into Bigport AE92???

    Hullo. . .

    1. Can anyone confirm whether a ZZE112 Gearbox will fit onto a 4AGE block? Rang a Wrecker looking for a C56+LSD and he said the above Tranny will fit onto a Bigport block, which I'm very dubious about. He also said my open diff 1/2 shafts will fit straight in, which I'm even more dubious about.

How difficult/feasible is it for a Newbie (with 20tonne press) to strip down C52 box and fit Cusco / Quaife etc Diff (~$1000); I have heard you need new bearings and that they are difficult/impossible to find ex CBC etc, and that they cost a fortune (i.e. $3-400 from Toyota) so it's better just tracking down 5 Speed C56. . .

Have heard swapping Linkage Mechanism with that from AE111 improves the change - is this true? (Linkage is $150-200 ex JAPAN so it would want to be. . / I cant find any 2nd hand)

pretty sure the ZZ's C series box uses a different bellhousing to the A series. I've got both in the shed but it's a mission to get everything out to test fit.

You can see what's involved in a box teardown here: http://www.ae92gts.com/ae92gts_trans_rb_1.html

Do you mean ZZE112 or ZZE122? The ZZE112s were never sold here (I think only the US got them), so the odds of you having a gearbox from one are quite low.

i would say most definitly not... or else making a 2ZZ-ge RWD would be soooo much simpler...

Thanks Hiro; then I guess it must be the latter; he said the box was from a 2001 year > Corolla. If that IS the case, (and assuming the ratios are feasible) can I just swap AE92 Bellhousing onto the ZZE122 transfer case?

If the ZZE122 internals ARE usuable wouldn't it make more sense doing that that trying to chase down a C56; which would have 10 more years of waer / tear + $500 dearer to boot??

PS: Logic tells me otherwise though; if it was do-able I would have heard about it on the forums. . . .
