    Default Locks

Ive recently had my car broken into and all my sound system stolen and i was thinking of removing my boot lock and getting it filled in i found one place that said they would do it for $500 it seems a bit much either that or im thinking of removing the arm inside and just putting a cosmetic lock in

does anyone know somewhere that would do it cheaper or another way to go about this :/

What type of car is it? You may be able to get a spare lock from somebody and get it matched to your key, Usually only costs about $20 to $30 by locksmith. I am in process of doing that for my TA22 due to different lock being fitted in drivers door. Apparently it was broken into when previous owner owned it.

it might be that much because they would have to fill the hole and then repaint the boot lid. It is a bit expensive though. I would just do as you suggested and remove the linkage, rendering the lock useless and leaving it there just for cosmetic purposes.

If it's not like an MA70 with the lock hidden in a translucent garnish. So if it's like on an xA6x celica just take out the lock, sand around the area, Get some mesh on the internal side of where the lock was, hold it there, get some fiberglass filler, sand it down, paint it, and youre ready for chap laps

Just remove the actuator rod from the lock and the latch. That way if you ever decide to put it back in or sell the car etc it's an easy fix.
