    Default 2t engine using a z9 ryco instead of a z89

Hey guys ive found that the z9 oil filter can be adapted instead of the z89 which is not only half the price but 50% bigger.

Is there any issue with doing this it clears the engine bay and everything and i have just filled up the dipstick to the full mark so its proabably got another 100-300mls of oil.

I know you can get bigger sumps to hold more oil so is there an issue if you get a bit extra capacity by using a bigger filter.
    Cheers

It can be an advantage using larger filter due to larger filtration area.
I tried it on my TA22 and couldn't get it in between steering box and engine, to screw on, but when measured would easily fit in space. Just problem fitting initially.

From some other auto forums, it appears that the Z9 and Z89A are basically the same other than length. Both have anti-drain back valves - which you need for the 2T motor. That said - it has been recommended to me that it is best to stick with the Toyota genuine filters as these provide the best oil pressure on start-up. They cost a a few bucks more, but worth the investment I think you'll find.
