    Damn! Your secret weapon!

I knew I should have transferred it over from the Subaru to the SPIDA.

    Hi guys,

I've uploaded some shots I took at today's MaxAction event for those interested.

Don't think I did too badly today, except for a wrong-way on the last run - doh!

The R-comps Mitch let me use seemed to help reduce my understeer and saved the shoulders of my daily tyres - thanks Mitch.

Think getting the better springs/shocks is next on my list.

I just got a chance to look at the preliminary results they sent out last night, you definitely had a noticable improvement over last time. Suspension is a very good idea, to think you are keeping up with mitch whilst having that much body roll..... cant wait to see how it goes when you fix it.

I cannot believe I came 3rd in my class and 13th overall. OMGWTF!!!111oneone. I didn't think I did that well, I guess it goes to show that having clean runs all day makes a big difference.

Well done Luke. You and your Dad did very well. Noticed you also got most improved in the handicap too (probably making-up for the crappy handicap they gave you to start with).

I'm hearing some conflicting advice re: changing springs vs. getting different (adjustable) swaybars

Might go see Wilkinson's and see what they say.

I think my springs could definitely do with a little stiffening, but whether better swaybars would help better, I'm not sure. That's what Andrew reckons would be better, rather than a spring upgrade.

Ideally both would be good, but depends how much I want/can spend.

Thanks Gene - yeah I think I topped the most improved purely because I have had stuffed up runs previously that brought down my Handycap. Still, I am not complaining.

Suspension is complicated, and I am far from knowledgable in the area. But from what I have learnt from my setup is that the springs will effect ride height, and how much your car compresses on the outside of the corner. the dampers effect the rebound of the spring, as well as limiting the drop of the wheels on the inside of the corner (so far as it wont drop further than it extends). Swaybars act as an additional force to the spring to some degree as they resist the compression of one side and the extension of another. The softer the springs you have the harder the swaybar will work, but essentially its meant to assist the springs - to help with bodyroll without compromising on ride comfort.

Sorry everyone. Forgot to post notification about the last MaxAction event last Sunday.

It went pretty well, with the OST guys putting in a good showing and some steady improvements generally. Few wrong-way and cone discretions, but not bad.

The overall results are available here.

The next event is in November, not sure of date off the top of my head. But there is the possibility of some of us running in the longer MaxAttack event on the 5th of November. Difference is you run the same course all day, which is longer as well. Could be good for practising, comparing times/lines and improving.

Yeah, funds are a bit tight around here at the moment too. So, maybe we should let the November one pass, but look at doing one in the future sometime?

The next MaxAction (event 5 - second last) is on the 19th of November - which is the same day as the Red Bull Air Race over the river. Wonder if we'll get to see some of them fly over?

Anyway, I'll be down there, along with the usual OST competitors.

I know Mitch is unable to attend the December event, and has someone in mind to "sell" his spot too, but if you're interested and that falls through let him/I know, and his might be available at a discounted cost. Need the car, license, etc. though.

Michael Guest need not apply. Though I think you can do it on a day license from CAMS. not sure on the costage though. Still need a civilian license of course.

Yeah I know, a bit of a pain. Still, hopefully I'll get to see some action on the Saturday and in the morning on the Sunday, before nipping over for the MaxAction event. I think the actual competition racing starts at 11am Sunday, which doesn't leave us much time

Michael Guest? Am I a bit slow or is that a private joke?
