Just a quick update - I have been chasing up more on my engine cutout problem and have decided that a cheap quick fix will be to put a downdraft from an escort on the 18R. Redline make an adapter plate, which I already have, and I will most likely need to chase down a throttle cable instead of that monstrous linkage system.

Hopefully it'll stand up to the G's. And possibly give me a bit more power as the throat is bigger than the standard carbie.

Back in the day when i had my 18rc RA40 i had a Escort downdraft and extractors with 2 1/4" exhaust and it pulled about as hard as my standard RG with extractors and twin carbs.

I rate the 18r with weber and extractors quite highly
Increase in power over standard carby was quite noticable!!

Thumbs up Re: Imports101 MaxAction Second Series 2006

    Thanks Damo,

Some great shots there. I like the one of SPIDA leaning as it passes a cone. Good getting some action shots like that.

Damo, those are really good photos. Not that I ever doubted your photography skills for a second.

Think you'll make it down for the next round on the 17th?

Question Re: Imports101 MaxAction Second Series 2006

    Luke,

How you going with your carby fix? Hope you've got it sorted for the next MaxAction run - can't wait to see how you go without the cut-outs.

    Gene

Yeah I still havent picked up a carbie yet. I called an escort tuning place about getting one off a working engine, and told them it was not urgent, but I needed it in 2 weeks as I had a race in 3 weeks. Called them today and the guy I spoke to has gone to england for 3 weeks. Doh!

The guy who was there is gonna organise it for me, so hopefully tomorrow. :\

Haha, sure sure Damo, you don't have to drive across the country the following weekend though! It'll be just eating into my prep time.

Post Re: Imports101 MaxAction Second Series 2006

Just a reminder, the OST team will be running again this Sunday arvo in the 3rd MaxAction event of this series.

We'll be down there from around 12pm, with starts at about 1pm. There's also the morning session for those who want to check that out too or instead

For those unaware, "Clints" Coffee Convergence is also planned for that morning, so if you feel like having a coffee down Freo way first, you'll see me there too.

Let's see if I can keep things "tidy" this time around, and not sure if the weather's going to be kind to us this time or give us a taste of the "wet stuff".

I've got a hot sticker tech mod worth 40bhp for this round, I'm running Targa West Chicane Team decals, as recommended by the Bindoon Grand Prix winner...
