Default MX83 Aircon clutch relay - where is it?

    Afternoon all,

Been trying to get the aircon working in my mx83. Close to nutting it all out (I hope) - just need to confirm where exactly the relay for the a/c clutch is (magnet relay?). I have many wiring diagrams, we just can't find where it is physically located.

Maybe related, maybe not - if anyone knows what the relay on the bottom right of the blower setup behind the glovebox is, pins facing toward back of the car - that'd be great. And the large blue plug that lives near it..

Will be going to pick n pay for a look today, but more info the merrier...

    Engine is (i think) JZX90 1JZ.

    Thanks
    Bardin

The relay is located next to the battery in the black cover where the other relay and fuses are. It is marked MG CLT and is the round Toyota relay. Hope that helps you cheers Tom.

Confirmed. Worse now because the kick panel wiring is all hanging out too. The bit with the hazard light switch etc is just hanging on by its wiring, etc. Fun times

It would seem i may have a jzx81 loom (??) because a fair few things are noticably different to the mx83's at the wreckers.. but still very stock looking. The only saving grace is that the a/c trigger wire seems to be colour coded the same

Has the aircon got gas in it. They wont run without. It has a min and max pressure switch. Wont run without gas or with too much pressure.

as amichie said there is a low pressure switch, also there is a 10A fuse behind the passenger side kick panel. The regulator on mine was leaking so i couldn't get mine to work things are practically impossible to get or fix easily.

No it doesn't - but you also can't gas it unless it will turn on... so here we have the dilemma - I tried to have it gassed previously, but because it wouldn't turn on, it couldn't be gassed fully.. But then like you say, it won't turn on without gas in it.. dilemma

Reeeeeeeasonably confident the issue is fixed now, bar the fact that my compressor leaked the small amount of gas that was in it. Changing compressor and o-rings this afternoon, and then will have another crack at getting it gassed on the weekend hopefully. As for whether or not it will idle up i have no idea... but thats a problem for later

make sure you get it pressure tested first and checked for leaks. Otherwise you'll be back there in a week or so with no gas.

You can bridge the pressure switches with the ignition on(engine off) and check to see if the magnetic clutch engages when you turn the a/c on/off.

Yeah will do. I'm planning on driving interstate with the car in a week,. so i'd prefer this doesn't happen
