The 1ZZ turbo setup has a few different options available depending on how much money you want to spend.

The kit my brother and I have put together for his car consists of:
    -steampipe manifold with merge collector
    -WRX TD04L turbo
-JZX100 1jzgte VVTI pencil style injectors
-emanage with optional map sensor, ignition and injector harness
    -greddy plumb-back BOV
    -EVO7 intercooler
    -SARD FPR
-Stafford Fabrications return-style billet fuel rail
    -Walbro 255lph intank pump
-Fuel system converted to return-style with modified fuel pump housing and external filter
-MAF pre-throttle body in 2.5" pipe instead of pre-turbo (easier to map with emanage like this, stock MAF can read up to around 12psi boost)
    -Oil Catch Can
-oil and water fittings with hose
    -JZX81 charcoal cannister

Then there's also all the other little stuff that can add up to another thousand or so $$ + all the extra time it takes.

MAF + boost? I don't imagine that the stock MAF would be designed to handle boost (that however doesn't mean it wouldn't work...), any info in that regard?

    Cheers

there's tons of info on the US celica and MR2 boards, people have run the MAF post-turbo for 40,000miles without issue.

JP ... what does this concoction of yours produce? And What was the "mishap at 15psi"?
So generally speaking to reach the target output Rods need to be looked at and whislt in there a set of forgies. but the Stock bottom end should cope?

S.W.A.M.I..... I had a feeling that the engines are moving away from the older line of thourght. On a separate note I just re-read what I posted in response to your first post, I apologies if that came across a little harsh.... I was having a bad day.

Psychofox... yes I stole the photo and i thourght I'd put a note saying it was a 2zz but 1zz is similar. I'm used to looking at 18R-G and 1G-GTE blocks that have more meat.

My bad on the VVT-i on the 1zz vs the 2zz. i was quoting from a U.S forum. and quite possibly miss read it.

Haven't assembled all the parts onto my brother's ZZE122 Levin yet as I'm finishing my wagon first.

From the results others have achieved, I'm expecting about 150kw ATW on around 10psi with the stock motor, time will tell.

We're assembling another motor with some eagle rods and forged pistons and sleeve kit from MWR later down the track, until then we'll see how long the stock motor lasts. Good thing is 1ZZ's are nice and cheap from the wreckers.
