When I ordered my 6boost manifold for my 2J/GT35R .82 rear setup, Kyle recommended going with a 50mm progate instead of the 44mm tial I had as he said he'd seen the same setup overboost with the 44mm gates in the past.

I took his advise and got the 50mm gate, I've got no overboosting issues at all, with the 0.5bar spring it can run 8psi, using a mac solenoid controlled by my ECU it runs 19psi perfectly (need a better clutch to wind it up more). Mine uses a 2" tube from the gate plumbed into the dump, pic below.

The collector design does play a part in if the turbo will overboost or not, a poor collector with small gate will have more chance of keeping the boost down compared to a nice merge collector with small gate. A mate has the same turbo as mine on his 2J using a china manifold with garbage collector and a 38mm turbosmart, it holds 14psi with the 1bar spring and the gate pipe plumbed back to the dump.

    alrite another update

Because the screamer was leaking i took it off to see why. I think i know why its leaking
i think my exhaust guy welded the vband flange on upside down on the manifold side.

Does that make sense? The flange sits up in the wastegate to seal it off but because its upside down theres a gap

If anyone has a tial wastegate they can please double check?

Also i use the air compressor to test the spring and it opens fully at 25psi, i ordered a 1 bar spring...now i think the spring is wrong as well

    it continues lol

interesting... I've still got my new Tial 44 gate here and just checked it, if the flange was welded to the manifold upside-down then it wouldn't be possible to bolt the clamp up

ok, the non-MVR gate has a separate seat for the valve that slips into the base of the gate. When the assembly is mounted to the manifold v-band flange and the clamp done up, it is held in tightly. There's no gap between the seat and the valve.

In my case i think the vband slips into the base of the wastegate sealing the valve off.

    Can anyone confirm this?

actually after looking at it..i could be wrong because the flat edge of the vband flange is on the right side of the manifold and flat edge on the gate are correct

hmmz..maybe the wastegate is faulty as the shaft isnt pushing all the way out

i would like to thank everyone for their assistance in this matter

i would like to say it is now resolved..i sorta remember now..when installing it..i did put the slip ring in but i couldnt put the vband around it so i left it out thinking maybe it was for something else. What i had to do was put the slip ring in and use an air compressor to lift the valve up then i was able to vband around it.

it holds boost at one bar boost throughout all gears now. Finally boosting consistantly

    Thanking everyone again!!
