Default 5MGE Dilemma, in limp home mode, no drive, no running right....

Hi guys, I need help with trouble shooting and some advice.
    MX73 with standard 5MGE and A43D

Start Engine, kicks over and hunts profusely. tried WOT, same hunting as at idle.
Im guessing its in limp home mode. Engine light satys on and did I mention it hunts?

    -Cam timing is correct
    - ignition timing is correct.

    I fitted a different o2 sensor than standard, extractors and a 2 1/2" system.
and have bypassed the coolant lines going through the ISCV and TB.

I fitted a 500CCA battery, but dont think that would be a problem.

all the injectors copped a re-seal, along with all of the intake tract.

So im guessing it may be the o2 sensor, could I be right or have I cursed my car with too many good things at once?

Mate my guess after reading your build thread is that you've left something major unplugged - TPS, MAF, ECT, or something similar and the ECU is having a dummy spit because it can't see one of its main sensors. Go over everything you did with a fine tooth comb, make sure all your shit is plugged in and that you've reconnected all your ground points.

I'm not sure but if it's in limp mode, the ECU should have logged a trouble code / flash code, you could try to read it and that'll give you some direction.

    Hey mate,

As Javal suggested check the ECU codes. A good thing to do for a conversion is to hook up the output for the error codes to the glovebox light. That's how I've got it hooked up on my MA61. So then whenever I bridge the terminals TE1 and E1 I can get the codes through there. Cross check it against the MKII TSRM.

You can use the link below to help you trouble shoot it.

EDIT: Also here's a link to an old thread I started with issues about my 5MGE. The problems weren't the same, but there's some useful info there.

Well, she flashed up codes 12 and 23. So I set the IGN timing wrong and my air temp sensor (or wiring) is on the fritz. When I can run the car when the neighbours aren't home, the fucking thing aint quiet....lol, I'll do as TSRM says... so yeah my hamfistedness was at play here.

this thing is owning me, I set the cam timing to 0 deg at TDC, set the dizzy as per tsrm, and now she wont fire. cranks fine, coughs and splutters, no start.

I read the signals wrong, it was actually codes 22 and 41. Adjusted the TPS and she runs good now, thanks for the help.
