1JZGE may be a bit harder to find than a 2JZGE My VVTI version is a nice smooth little motor not a real lot of torque but goes ok given a few revs
Looking to build a JZ engine of some sort NA looking for the pro's and cons as a base to start with.
For example 1J has better bore/stroke ratio for higher revs but a 2jz has 500cc more
1jzge/2jzge run distributors GTE version do not.
i Already have a 1jzgte in a car so was sort of thinking well JZX81 has 1jz why not chuck a nice NA in the mx32 keep them all sort of in the family.
what ever engine i use will be run from a after market computer as i will be running GTR ITB on it
Next question worth going VVTi version or not?

Jealousy is a curse
Alright After spending a good 8 hours researching
your right 1JZ NA is hard to find and performance parts are even harder,
SO now it comes to 2JZ what engine should i start with a GTE or GE? are the heads different other then one running a distributor? reason i ask is the GTE Block as oil squirters and a GE does not? and do GTE exhaust manifolds bolt on to GE or the other way around?

i got a 2jzge non vvti in the cressida. its goes pretty good for what it is. mods where 3inch exhaust, CAI intake with pod, lexus is300 LHD ebay headers modified to fit and an apexi safc. its pulling 140kw atw, which is about average for those mods.
how far did you want to go with mods? i would assume a 2jzge would suffice without having to resort to GTE internals.
well mods list im looking at
2 1/2 inch exhuast to diff with twin 2inch pipes
ITB
extractors
Cams
Valve springs
aftermarket ECU
there will be other things i have forgotten or im thinking about but unsure for example that is head work like port polish and MAYBE i will do pistons just depends on how much i pick up engine for and so on
but basic mods you have are diff on the cards

More research has me stuck also between VVTI and non any help on that is good![]()

2JZGE VVTi.
Nice exhaust
Cold air induction
Aftermarket management.
Done.
To do the list you have written above, don't expect much change from $10k.
And it just wouldn't be worth it.
Its just not worth opening up the motor unless you are going to spend big dollars.

Will do CLG,
so far im thinking just 2JZGE non VVTi as im finding it hard to find anything NA for the VVti
currently just researching also what sump i might need to use and as uch NA research as i can find
[Gentlemen's Club]
Whats your budget for this build?

No budget as such
Not saying i want to spend 30k, but sort of want to do what i have said
2JZGE
RB26 ITB
CAMSHAFTS
CAM GEARS
EXTRACTORS
VALVE SPRINGS
Then MAYBE, and this is a huge maybe, depending on condition of engine and cost of it i will do head gasket ,port polish,
Car will run a Autronic of some sort as i do run a Autornic in the JZX81 and want to keep with something i know, and yes i know the cost i have budgeted for that
but yeah it more a long term engine build as the mx32 is running fine nothing wrong with it at all so no rush in building the motor

Sounds feasible then.
But I'd still choose the VVTi over the non, especially since you are remaining NA.
Just look at the BEAMS 3SGE results!

Yeah i understand the VVTi with more torque but i can not find extractors for them and aftermarket camshafts where as non VVTi seem to have alot more
[Gentlemen's Club]
2JZGE VVTi's come with factory extractors (quite nice ones at that).
But chances are off the shelf stuff won't fit in your engine bay, so you'll need to custom build it.
And cams you can just get welded and reground.

you can get cams for the 2jzge vvti google it, US clublexus forums has info on it they are from brian crower cams i think but they dont show up on their website
