    Default Hilux 3y Conversion Suggestions?

    Hey guys
I've done a bit of searching around and Ill that seems to keep turning up is the vn motor conversion.
I was wondering what people could suggest as a "easy" replacement for the old 3Y which has just done the head.
All I want out of it is a bit more power and some good fuel economy figures. Any recommendations???

don't know how easy it is but a 3rz would be a good idea considering it's used in later models

1g-gt/zes seem popular too ? maybe a little long. the commonwhore V6 seems to do the job well enough. and cheap. you could buy a reasonable condition complete commodore for very little.
so much stuff. so little time.

3S are close to being compatible? Does this mean I could simply grab a 3S motor and bolt her up to the auto box??

yes slot one hole and it's meant to go right on. You may need to shorten the bellhousing about 8mm though. I did this job for someone who wanted it done. Have a look at 3sge conversions to find out more as the 3s guys like using the Y to W bellhousings

get yourself a webber carbie and make a large air intake $400 for carbie and adaptor. I have just done this conversion to a mates 4y. You have to get rid of ALL the vacume plumbing and extra crap, its a very easy and cleans up the enginine bay. Should take no more than 4hrs including tune in the carbie
