Default Aristo 2JzGte into Falcon Xe

Hey all, puting my aristo half cut to good use shortly, its going into the front of my stripped out light weight XE falcon drag car.
Was just wondering wether disconnecting a few things from the motor are going to affect the running in any way...
Plan on disconnecting the A/C, power steer, cruise control and most likely the traction control... Does any one for see there being a problem with disconnecting any of this stuff?

After removing the a/c and p/s you only need to arrange accessory belt somehow
You may remove trac and cruise ECU's without any problem. You will probably need some ETCS-i controller for better throttle response. Some aftermarket auto g/box controller would also help you improve acceleration time a bit.

You can happily remove all of that (A/C, power steer, cruise control, traction control)

@George: It's pretty likely (like 99%) that he has a JZS147 Engine and as such won't have ETCS-i to worry about

Yes it is a JZS 147. As for the auto ( A340E Aisin warner ) , there is actually a diagram and instructions ( on toymods ) to disregard the electrics for the auto to create a manual shift, I will probably do that eventually too.

seems like a waste to put in to a dirty old XE...

also if/when you go to a aftermarket ECU this all will be null and void anyway

Seems like a waste to have a nice 2Jz in a landboat aristo lol. The XE i have is a mere 1270kg kerb weight from factory being a poverty model, it now doesn't even have a dash board or anything inside so I'd guess it weigh around the 1 tonne mark now coz a lot of crap came out of it. Compare it to say the aristo which is around the 1600-1700kg mark, for drag racing sake, it makes a lot more sense to be in the falcon, plus the fact the XE has a factory 9 inch diff available. Even the 2J powered supras are a heavy weight.
I chose the XE coz i like that model, i'm planing on making it look like Dick Johnsons " greens Tuff " touring car he had in the early 80's. I have already scored a original bathtub spoiler !!!

well realistically a aristo is not a sports car its a luxury sedan, id own a aristo.

XE looks like spotted dick. i dont mind some falcon models but XE has to be about the worst in terms of styling, body lines etc, even the XF has a much nicer all round look. a lot of the time drag cars dont often 'look nice' anyway so i guess it doesnt matter lol. light car with a big, live axle diff and large engine bay does sound like a good place to start for a drag car though.

good luck with the project and be sure to post up a build thread when you are under way.

You'll want to put some thought into how you are going to control the line pressure... the jzs147 a340e doesn't have a kick down cable like earlier a340e

I'm with you on this, although it is an interesting conversion. Interested in why the XE though? Surely there isn't atleast 20 or so cars that'd be better suited and better looking then the xe?

i believe the fix for this is to use a 1jz a340 valve body with a kickdown cable...

As for the A340e, I actually bought one off big_zop on here out of a soarer i believe, its a cable job. I think i will just swap the whole auto over as the XE has a live rear and the aristo one is for a independant, big_zop was kind enough to throw in the front yoke and uni in with the deal so i can get a tailshaft fabricated. Failing that, I do work in a Auto trans shop... C4 easy fix lol.
Well Xe for many reasons, XD and earlier has leaf spring rear end where as XE has coils and watts link. The XE is the lightest V8 optioned falcon that ford ever made, XF never came out V8 and has a physically smaller engine bay believe it or not. XD and XE are supposed to have the largest engine bay out of all falcons, followed closely by XY.
See, the XE is sort of a guinea pig for my engine building, the 2J will most likely not stay in the XE. I wanted a shell that could take what ever engine i wanted to put in there from 4 cyl right up to V12 if need be. The option to fit a 9 inch, and that is a disc one in a XE, is another reason. Build one drag racing shell and just swap engines out when you blow them up or get bored of them.
As for style, well thats each to there own.I had a couple of XFs, XDs, XBs and a XG. I'm not praising its looks as a standard car, I plan on replicating " greens tuff ". Out of all dick johnsons race cars its my favourite, flared wheel arches, gold BBS wheels, big bathtub spoiler, snow shovel front bar and that renault green paint job it just looks crazy.
I don't mind the 80s style, I love the R31 skylines too, especially the coupes.
Heres the plan: I stripped the XE out, with a stock 4.1 and auto it did a miserable 11.550 down the 1/8th mile... I'm hopping that with the 2J on board getting that same time ( 11.550 ) down the 1/4 mile won't be a problem lol.

nice! will be interested to see the outcome.

as for the XE, i dont mind them at all, especially the DJ's. I was going to transplant a 2j into an EB. ibought the motor and then realised i wouldnt be able to afford the rest for too long
