Default Anyone had to chase a ball joint for a soarer?

Hi guys, I took the soarer for rego today and got knocked back on a worn out lower ball joint. I've tried all the obvious places to get one and no-one can help me. Apparently Toyota can supply a whole new control arm/ball joint for about $1200 Has anybody out there tracked down a new one and if so where from??? (1992 UZZ30) Thanks

You won't find ball joints because you have to replace the whole LCA. Apparently Supra ones can be used but you have to replace both sides as they are slighty different to the soarer ones.

Note: I have not done this personally just got the info from other forums

    Enquire about getting them rebuilt.
I got them rebuilt for my Celsior for about $120 a side.

Rebuilt? what sort of places do that? engineering shops? I doubt the average mechanic would be able to do it. I'll look around anyway before ordering them.

To be honest, I have no idea how they are rebuilt, or who rebuilds then.
I was just talking to my local auto parts store, and mentioned I needed new ones, and they said they could get them rebuilt.

Dropped them off, and they came back looking like this.

Soarer LCA ball joints aren't replacable, you'l need new or used LCAs. I have a set of 2 in the garage, not sure if they pass the torque test (don't have a torque wrench) but they are smooth and have no play.

While you're at it, replacing the bushes makes a massive difference to how soarers drive. Bran-z (spelling?) bushes are great in my experience

Hendo, do they have the little tab for the height control sensor? and whereabouts are you located?
I would email, but there's no external email at work
