Looking forward to seeing how you mount it up. For what its worth, the transmission shop I use reckons the VN-VS transmission coolers in the OEM "tow pack" have a fantastic BTU rejection rate, and not worth upgrading to anything aftermarket. Then again, the EA one is probably just as good in a power steering application, since its much less work than cooling the oil from a thrashing torque converter in an auto box.

    Cheers

in an auto you have no choice in relation to pressure, the hot oil exits from the torquue converter, along the pipes/hoses to the cooler and back into the trans again, pwr steer i guess is diffrent, it definetly has a high pressure line and a low pressure line. the commo one looks very similar to an aftermarket PWR or Davies Craig, i bought a 2nd hand PWR from someone on here when i did my hilux, i flushed it out with brakeclean best i could then left it full for a week with the outlets capped so the B/clean didn't evaporate, came up good as new.

Yeah, def. not for use for engine oil cooling. Way way to small for that.

Not sure which I'll go for.
Leaning towards the GM one as I know how much work goes into 'some' of their work..
Will all depend how much room i have with the intercooler.

Anyhow, shit like this is helpful for others ;p

Back in the day we used to pull the XF ones out in favour of the bigger ones shown above.

I like that, excpet that's where i have to mount my oil cooler haha. Might have to ditch the foggies and run this in the front bar. Might have to go to a wrecker and see which one I find first, EA or VN. Probably much of a muchness given their similar sizes and designs.

Shift the overflow tank then. It doesnt need any airflow, maybe get a bottle that you can squeeze into the inner guard somewhere.

Yeah i could do that, but then it would be a fucker to inspect/refil. Could maybe fit the PS cooler under the overflow since its pretty small.

Made a trip to a "specialist" ford wrecker today and only confirmed what I already knew...that all wreckers are complete fuckheads. I went in asking for an EA falcon transmission cooler, he told me they only came on the tow packs (which was mentioned at some stage in this thread). He obviously didnt have what I was looking for, and instead tried to sell me one off an earlier model which was pissy in size. It was probably about 100x75. to be sure it wasnt what i needed, I pulled up the above image on the i-phone, he looked at it and insisted that it was aftermarket. So I asked him why 2-3 different people had pulled the same cooler off different EA falcons? He insisted they all must have had the same aftermarket cooler.

    lol.

whats worse is, he tried to sting me $45 bucks for the pissy little thing. rip off??

Where did you get yours Chris? Might have to make a trip down there (please dont say Ford wrecker on Gran Junction Road)

Also, are there any potential problems with having your ps fluid too cool? I.E. if you are using too large of a cooler for street use also?

I got mine from UPullIt. Tons of them there with the tow packs.
