you'll need an adapter plate that sits between the stock 2t manifold and the weber carb
looks very similar to the kit in the above link
and welcome aboard
hey guys new to forum , recently bought a 74 Ta22 celica, midnight black. finally have some money to start spending on it. i want to attach a weber 32/36 with electric choke and rip out that single barelled pile of fail thats on it already. what im asking is anyone who has that setup can they post some photos of it from multiple angles so i can see what goes where and what links up to what also hints about what issues and problems i might encounter and their solutions are would be greatly appreciated thankyou.

yeah was aware of the adapter plate, had to do that in the past with a weber on a A12 motor in a datto 120y
cool
install the adapter so that the carby is mounted away from the rocker cover as much as possible (the weber is rather large)
as you are aware the ta22 were fitted with linkages.
you'll have to modify the part of the linkage that connects to the carby
does your carby look like the one in the photo (especially the linkage end)

yeah the linkage issue and where certain hoses are and where they go is what im seeking with photos
I have a Weber 32/36 that has an electric choke, but I took the choke off as I didn't need it in this Queensland climate. It also has the manifold to suit a 3T, the same as a 2T. I also should have the linkages for TA22 as well. What sort of photos do you need?? I have no idea what the electric choke should hook up to, though.. I can give you the jetting info on the carb too, if you need it. It ran a 3T pretty well, so it might be tuned a little rich for the 2T..
you wont gain much from just installing a 32/36 weber. and unless you get it properly tuned you'll likely lose power.
The stock twin throat Asin carbie isn't that bad, and simply switching to a carbie off a 4M, L24, L26 with a tune (critically) can yield similar to better results as they have larger throats and venturis (You could even try a 12A, 4 barrel, they go for nothing over on ausrotary.) The only advantage of the Weber is the mechanical secondary. If you can get a second hand 32/36 (escort) or 38/38 (falcon) then go for it. but don't waste cash on a new one.
Remember a tune is most important. 2T cams are pretty cheap, as are 2T extractors. With a new (larger) carbie, these would be on the top of the list to do at the same time!!

hookup the elec choke to the ballast resister on the 9v side - i prefer this side, still plenty of herbs to turn off the choke just slightly slower. the 12v side makes them run a little hot for my liking. set the choke to just be on with the throttle 1/3 open and just shut with the throttle shut - while the motor is cold of course. linkages should be easy adapt the original pull onto the weber and get a aftermarket aircleaner with a paper element not one of the clip on pieces of $hit foam. the vacuum advance goes on the second bottom one (i think) has no vacuum at idle but gets vacuum with the throttle partly open. get it running first then it will be easy to find. webers are brilliant carbs!!!

thanx for the info guys especially about the voltage, im not planning on buying a new weber rather a second hand one being in tasmania the chokes going to be pretty vital come winter, not entirely sure how easy it would be down here to pick up a cam and extractors but they are on the to do list. if anyone in tas knows of a good place to get parts it would be much appreciated
Im kind of in the same boat as you! I have extractors, a cam and an adapter plate for the stock 2t manifold, but im still after a 32/36 weber. Its not hard to get extractors if you on the mainland, but your in tassie. I bought all my stuff private, adapter plate and extractors from ebay, the cam i bought of toymods. I just waited until something popped up and snatched it up. One thing i wanna know that there is all different kinds of weber 32/36 carbs, i just want one that is the easiest to put on![]()
well i spoke to a ebay seller called gem parts australia they do alot of weber sales and they quoted me a weber 32/36 jetted, with electric choke, adapater plate, throttle linkage and aircleaner setup for either 356.... or 536 one of the two, thinking 536 for the amount of stuff.
just man up and buy the new one.
i bought a s/h 32/32 off a capri for a 1200 ute i had and then spent more on having it rebuilt and rejetted to suit.
costed as much as buying a new one
if its $356 get a group buy going & order me one too - thats cheap!!!
