oh yeah -- and if anyone know about the engineering requirements for NSW
thanks
i am thinking of replacing the motor in my hilux
1991
RN110
4wd
22R motor
5sp man
extra cab
32" muddies
2" body lift
4.88 diffs
i was thinkning of installing a turbo, EFI 22R
looking for about 200rwhp
i have found a turbo kit in the states for $2500 thats good for about 15psi from LC engineering
however i need to source everything on the intake side (manifold, injectors etc...) aswell as an ECU of some sort and maybe ingnition (everything i've owned up to this point has been carby so i'm low on knowlege)
does anyone know a good place to source all the stuff i need?
also if any one know a good engine biulders/installers in the sydney area?
if any one has any advice or knowlege on this topic it would be greatly appreciated
thanks

have you considered for 2500 you could get a way better motor to start with? such as 2jzge / 1uzfe
22Rs dont like boost.
1983 Toyota Celica Supra
prehaps, i was also thinking of going the other way and putting a 5Ltr holden V8 in
I spoke to some engineers (although it's not a good time of year to get answers with holidays and all) and they seemed very vauge on the legalities and what i'd have to do to get it legal
Think about a 22RLPGT, I did my conversion 13 years ago.
It absolutley hauls ass.
+1 for 1uz you wont regret the money well spent
and forget the 5lt idea

assembly is just the opposite of disassembly - just you swear in different spots!
yeah as above, much cheaper, reliable and easier with a 1jz 1uz or holden injected 5lt conversion.

LC Engineering stuff's on the level. They're basically the authority on anything 22R(E)/2RZ-FE/3RZ-FE.
200RWhp or 150RWkW in the new money from a 22RE would be real easy with a turbo setup. I'd be shooting for 225RWkW (300RWhP) @6500RPM on 15PSI.
Things to remember, is you sway in a 1/2JZ or 1UZ ... you need to fab up a gear box bell housing, engine mounts, wiring, new cooling... Sure the motor and loom might only be $2000 or so but the extra cost will add up.
I'd have the 22R rebuilt with forged rods and pistons (available for <$1000 from Wiseco combined thanks to a strong ausse dollar) with a mild cam from LC-Engineering. Total rebuild should come to <$2500 easy. Grab the LC-Engineering kit but have the boost set to 12psi not 7 for $2500, or better yet grab the Pro kit for an extra $500. You'll also need to factor in an intercooler, and valve springs are never a bad investment when boosting an older NA engine.
You'll also need new fuel injectors (go SARD 550's from RX7 S5, cheap at $150 on rotary forums) a better fuel pressure regulator, an aftermarket ECU (go microtech LT10,) a Bosch 910 or better fuel pump and new exhaust.
So a realistic $7000-$7500 to do it properly and know that the 20 year old donk isn't going to expire on you. Is it worth it? that's a question only you can answer, but an engine swap using a second hand engine with extra fab work will come close to that for similar power.
Best of Luck

Or you could go a 2jzge or gte depending on how much you want to spend.
I did the 2jzge to my daily and apart from a few teething issues it goes well and has a shitload more torque than the 22r ever had, it will take off easily in third gear if i want it to and it runs on the stock computer so no need for extra ecu cost.
