    Default Creaking brake caliper??

I've got wilwood superlite 4 pot calipers on the front of my jza70, the entire set up is less than 12 months old. In the last few days I've noticed a creaking sound coming from the front right caliper when coming to a stop at the lights. I just jacked the car up then and with it on the stands, depressing the brake pedal brings on the creak. It literally sounds like an old door or bed creaking. I've never heard such a sound associated with a braking system before but then again I'm hardly an expert. Is it something I should be concerned about or is is possibly just a lubrication issue?

first check all the mounting bolts are tight, and check if pad wear is even or not.

can you get someone else to push the pedal while you feel/see if the caliper is flexing a lot?

i thought superlites had a rep for being not so stiff? but sound may not be good.

Are all 4 pots activated when pushing the pedal?

Checked all the bolts, they are as tight as the day I did them up. Can't tell if all pots are moving, how would I be able to? Someone on another forum suggested that it could be the retaining pin that holds the pads in, which sounds reasonable as it links the two sides of the caliper together and is subject to load when the pedal is pressed (with flex). I remember when I installed the calipers that the pin was a fucking tight fit. Maybe a touch of grease just on the pin itself (away from braking surfaces!) will do the job?

I gotta say, it doesn't seem like a dangerous issue, it's just too much of a weird sound to come from the brakes

Check there's no dirt etc between the pistons and bores.

Take the wheel off while you got it on stands. Should be able to see a small movement

from the top when a helper applies the brake. Might even get a feeler gauge between the piston and pad

There is definately movement there, you can see the caliper flexing.

If you look closely down the square hole at the top of the caliper you should be able to see a bit of

each of the 4 pistons. If any of these are sticking it will cause a uneven (twisting) force on the caliper

wich may be the cause of your creak

All calipers will flex to some degree. The question is whether that is acceptable for the intended use.

Mine will see heavy daily use with the occasional drive through the hills and track day.

When I say flex, I mean movement. Next to fuck all I'm talking about here.

Also here's a short vid of the sound

Also worth noting that the car doesn't pull to any side under heavy brakes so there is still equal braking force going to both sides

Can be one of the pistons just getting a bit of stiction on the seal.
