1JZ Thermo CFM?

If you want electric, I would ONLY use EL/AU/etc Falcon fans (or the Mondeo ones).

They come fully shrouded and will outflow pretty much every fan on the market (bar a few).
Piss easy to fit, and highly reliable.

But, from memory they are about 85mm deep at their thickest (or is it 70mm?? can't remember)

My car is running with just one EL fan hooked up (both are there, not wired) - and it clearly works well. 30+ deg days and i'm still not overheating with only one fan..

With both on though, car will sound like it is going to take off, only downside i can think of

the only problem i have with running those fans and shroud is how dogey it looks unless the radiator is just as big, and can use the brackets/mounting points from the stock shroud... all the EL thermo fan conversions i've seen look bodgey and have zip ties, the shroud hangs over the radiator in all different places.. just looks crap...

I've used them on an MX73 radiator, an MA70, and an MZ10, and all 3 have almost been a mm perfect fit.

Its probably only 4cyl cars where they are too big.

most of them are drift shitters that i've seen... those c**ts just don't give a shit about thier cars... it's baller to be hacked up and dodge...

dunno about baller, just easier/quicker/faster/safer to use zippie ties on a car your expecting to stack.

Yep EL Falcoon ones here on the 1uz.

Keeps the temps well low. Using both fans

I do not dorifto or circuit so street only comparison here.

My drifter the bodykit is held on by cable ties as when you stack the cable tie breaks and lets the whole bar come off in one bit not get smashed into lots of lil bits

So alot of people using EL ones I got some prices in regards to spal ones i will prob go with them

Take the time with a stanley knife to clean it up and it looks fine - fair bit needs to be cut. EL lines up well with MX83 size, width is spot on - from memory AU is too big.

I will confess that i never finished the job and the very last mounting point i used a cable tie, but i was at pains to cut the shroud so it tucked into the little tabs on the bottom of the rad, etc. Someday.... maybe

Found a pic of when it was (mostly) finished and ready to go on - you could do more and cut off the wider mounting tabs etc that i'm not using, but i'd had enough of my blunt stanley knife by then

Wow that is good fitment

I Also just found out that Ford Thermo Fans are twin 16" So all these twin 12" i been looking at that flow 900cfm more time to start looking at monster 16" twins

and BTW

EF/EL fans are 700mm wide x 420mm high
AU fans are 660mm wide x 440mm high

There is some messurements for people wanting to do the conversion

I'm pretty sure the Ford ones are twin 13" fans, or there abouts.
There aren't too many radiators that would fit twin 16" fans!


Oh, and don't use EF fans either, as one fan is 6V and the other is 12V.

Any chance you can use the Autronic to control the hydraulic fan? And is the hydraulic fan working now?

I would suggest keeping that setup if it's being or can be controlled properly.
It didn't have any cooling problems in its past life in Adelaide, which says alot for the setup it has, and replacing the water pump is actually possible without replacing the whole unit, so it's not as prohibitively expensive as often thought.

I did a bit of the work on that car including wiring the Autronic & fitting the coils, it's good to hear it's still around & going to get driven again.

One thing I always wanted to fix on it was the idle up valve, loud & hard to controll with an air filter on it. You might want to plumb it up to the intake in front of the throttle body instead of the air filter, will make it quieter & much easier to controll the idle.

And good to know you wired it up i might have to pick your brain to how it is wired up as im putting in autronic boost solenoid and have meth injection plugged up and controlled by it to

As i want to fix the speedo but also wire up other things like wideband so it and so on, im yet to have a look at the wiring waiting till i have everything
