Chris - easy do get to?
I think I know the spot you are talking about... near Garret Rd bridge?..

it can sometimes get busy.. depends if people are taking their boats out on the river.
could be worth a look tho.
    Cheers for the input.

I haven't had the time to get out and drive around town scouting different places.
    My bad y'all!..

if anyone wants to check out a few of thier suggested spots and then list the top picks - I'll make a choice from a few of the best suggested..

nah its closer to the city than that damo.. its more maylands side.. if you look at the map you can see garrat rd bridge is further off to the right. this one you just head up guildford road and either go right into fourth avenue or a bit further down to peninsula road and then come back round. its quite easy to get to considering that you just come out of the tunnel eastbound and turn left on east parade and follow it all the way around to maylands..

its about 2 mins drive out of east perth

well I'm not going to be there, but i recomend garvey park (ascot), nice spot by the river, if you get in contact with the council they would probably let you out onto the grass aswell

unless they've swapped them over, or just added new different ones, the BBQs at Garvey are push button gas jobbies

stopped off at a few places after work.

    a) First I tried Chris's idea of Bardon Park, Maylands. Nice open car park with plenty of room.. but a short cardio workout to get anywhere near the BBQ's. This means we'd have to leave the cars out of sight while we fry up some food..

    b) Then stopped off at a place called A P Hinds reserve near Garret Rd bridge in Bayswater. Close to the BBQ's, ample parking, but it tapers to a narrow car park near the BBQ's.. so could be a bit restrictive for people comin in and out..

    c) Also had a look at Beatle's suggestion of Garvey Park in Ascot. This would have been nice if they didn't close off the large main car park and start some sort of construction where we wanted to be.. This only left a couple of small car parks to the side, which, if any other patrons wanted to use the park on a Sunday, it would leave us without enough room.

I'll do some more scouting over the weekend..

    other suggestions welcome.
