Default 7MGE - MA61 few simple q's (yes ive searched but im wanting to confirm rumors)

    Hey all

Just found a 7MGE with a re-done headgasket, new studs, new water pump , new plugs/leads/dizzy button/ cam seals etc.....

    Anyway...

    The GF's 5ME in her MA61... has a W57 behind it.

Does the W57/Clutch/Flywheel all mate up to the 7MGE or will that need to be replaced.

Cruzida/JCMF have confirmed that the install of the engine and electronics is really frikkin basic, so that doesnt worry me. im just worryed about issues with the box connecting to the 7MGE

Also, does the tailshaft need to be modded or anything else with the driveline.

Because from what i have read...

    1. Remove 5ME + W57 + wiring harness
    2. Remove W57 from 5ME + clutch etc
    3. Install W57 on 7MGE (ive read clutch fly etc all mates up)
    4. Install 7MGE+W57 into MA61 , connect wiring
    5. start the car.

any advice would be great, as id like to get this engine before xmas and treat the GF to some more power in something other than the bedroom.

    xoxo

from memory there are 2 different flywheels/clutches but already having 5me manual you should have the right one ,
while your at it you should replace the clutch anyway,
i happen to have the perfect clutch for the job for sale

Haha nice one Ecko, but the clutch in the W57 is a newie ! prolly done only 5000kms (exceedy HD replacement)

    Thanks for that tho ...

    Oh and i forgot
7MGE from a MX83 (has loom ecu etc)
    so front sump.

does anyone know if (i have read) i still have to move the dipstick location ?? someone mentioned it in a thread in 2008 but it was regarding 7MGTE not 7MGE. ...

nahh wont have to move dipstick

bit of fiddling with the throttle cable iirc (edit: i think i had to weld the 5M seat to the mx83 7m bracket for some silly reason)

    else all bolt in

    none, all bolt in

grind off the engine dampner shock absorber mount off engine xmember
bolt 5m mounts and box to engine
fiddle with the fuel filters till they all bolt in (just use the 5m one i think)
    bolt in to car
    wire up 6 wires

    skid it

edit: dont forget if the 7m-ge is from a MX83 then it wont have a spigot bearing which you'll need, as im not sure the 5m spigot bearing is the same

    - new waterpump should look all nice and shiny and alloy like
    - new leads will look nice too

that'll give an indication on whether its been worked on

    - did he say head studs or just new head bolts?

if they are studs then head most likely has come off like you are hoping

if its a front sump 7MGE you will need to drill the hole in the block for the rear dipstick suited for rear sump. there will be a blank pad on the block did this when I put a 7MGE into a MA70. also need to get a hold of a oil pump and pick up suited for a Rear sump If I was you do what I did and invest in a GTE pump as they flow more! to add I used a 5mg flywheel pressure plate and clutch behind mine with a W58

    isnt ma61 front sump already?

I fitted a 7MGE to one of my Ma61, had to use the 5ME sump as the 7M hit the xmember, iirc had to use 5M oil pickup too.
