    Hi there,
As you will see from the above reply there are not too many people who understand or like blow through carbs on this forum. I would catch up with a few of your friends from nearby PR! There are a decent bunch of people hang out on the 3tcgarage.com website. Some of them use twin webbers in blow through running as quick as 8 second passes! There is a great carby thread/section on theturboforums.com also.

Since I only have experience with Holley blow through I cannot point you too far with twin carbs on a 2TG. There is one or two guys on here who have got or done blow through webber style carby's however - hurricane comes to mind and there is some dude with a ta22 from WA currently messing with such a setup, you may find him in the members ride section somewhere...

    Good luck with it!

    Cheers,
    Jason

You got that generalisation from one post?

Generally, you'll find that generalisations are generally incorrect.

The question posed by OC was relevant and unassuming. He just wants to know why you are not considering injection. An honest question.

Most people here do understand how blow through carbs work, but it is not used often as most people upgrade with injection and go through that path. A lot of the time people upgrade to injection (with or without turbo) because they feel the carbs are not letting them get the best performance from their engine. However, a well tuned set of carbs performs perfectly - it's just that most of the carbs are old, poorly tuned and need a rebuild. The art of rebuilding and tuning carbs is dying and most people go for the injection because it means they don't have to fiddle and tune the carbs.

I have seen some set ups for blow-through carbs on the 18R-G. As the carbs between the 18R-G and 2T-G are similar, and they get good results, I would assume a similar set up would work on a 2T-G.

Wasn't there a thread or something around here a short while ago discussing blow through carbs, with great pic of that awesome HKS (I think?) blow through set up on an 18R-G powered RA28 in Qld?

i was thinking more for class racing, or old skool appeal, or lack of EFI understanding etc.

if you do everything yourself, injection is still probably slightly more expnsive than carbs

Cliff's RA28 has the HKS blow-thru setup on an 18RG (mentioned in RIver's earlier post) - is do-able but either requires locating bits of hard-to-find turbo kits or lots of fabrication.

I see your point River & I appologise to OC as that came across harsh...

I base my generalisation on quite a number of threads which have come up on these forums over the time where someone asks about blow through carby setups and people act like it is an almost useless excercise!

I'm not sure if this is tongue in cheek or if I read it wrong, but I kinda rate my carby setup dollar for dollar against injection anyday! I made it to toyota nationals on 10L/100km and spoke with many injected guys (4 cylinders included not just thirsty 6's) using 15L/100km or worse!

For someone with a bit of old school carb sense or willing to learn, the carby turbo route can turn in equal performance figures to injection while not being too shabby on driveability either. Part of the old school charm of course is getting your hands wet with petrol occasionally changing jets etc!

Efi these days is fantastic and gets better with each dollar you can afford - I'm not blind to that. I just get a little irritated when some blindly state that the very thing I and many others are currently doing very successfully cant work or will yeild poor results!

hear is some info about carby setups that might help out

    BLOWTHROUGH CARBY

suck through i have found the easyest and cheapest setup to run, it will kill the seals of a normal turbo though, it will need teflon seal to start with or put in.
blowthough would be my preferd setup ether useing twin webers or a holley.

    ONE OF MY EARLY SETUPS

SUCKTHROUGH STUP IN MY KE20 EDIT, READ FROM PAGE 4 OR 5 I THINK? LITTLE MORE INFO THERE

ill get some more info up when ive got time. i also cant find anything on the weber setup or any of the tech threads/build up threads ive done of my turbo setup? there were around somewere?

maybe ill just make another blowthrough setup for the hell of it

    dan.

I found this 2TG with the HKS turbo kit on you tube
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WrEbBLcoGW4

These HKS kits are so rare and expensive but they look awesome.
Looks like a simple power upgrade but very hard to find.
I've been searching jap auctions for the past year and I've only seen them listed twice and they went for around 600 to 700 bucks AU

Yeah, but those fuel figures are indicative of a ludicrously bad tune, no closed loop or they had more fun than you With a proper tune my XX went from 14L/100km to 9L/100km. The figures you've quoted are the exception, not the norm.
