Nightpager Brake upgrade supra 323mm disk walkthrough for z20 soarer

hey guys, ive had my brake sitting around now for about 2 years so i think its time to put them on
so i thought ill so a step by step guide how to do this upgrade as i go
NOTE THIS WILL NOT WORK WITH ABS HUB

ok so what you have is

2x supra 4pot 323mm disks (standard, slottered, drilled etc)
2x skyline 4pot calipers (r32)
2x 3mm spacers
2x night pager brackets



TOOLS

pin nose pliers
12mm socket
14mm socket
17mm socket
19mm socket
22mm socket
mallet/hammer
19mm spanner

ok so obviously you unbolt your wheel and then your left with the brakes

what you start with


now to remove the caliper there are 2x 17mm bolts on the back of it. unbolt them and with a bit of wiggling around it will come off
and now once the caliper is off your disk should just slide off, if it doesnt tap it with a mallet and it will.

then your left with the hub as so



now the hub measures 148mm and the inside diametre of the supra disk is 143mm. so therefore you will have to grind down 5mm but because its a circle you only have to take off 2.5mm diameter.

ok next step is up to you. i chose yo unbolt my hub to use a bench grinder to machine the hub down, i know you can use an angle grinder etc but not as accurate but totally up to you. so the next step im gonna do is take the hub off.

now on the back of the hub you have to unbolt 2x 12mm bolts to unbolt the brake line off the hub. then 17mm bolt on the power steering arm, 19mm top ball joint and 22mm bottom ball joint. (the steering arm and bottom ball joint will have split pins so thats what the pliers are for)


bolts look like so


and then your left with this

now once you have machined your hub you put it back on and then follows

you will need 8x high tensile M12x1.25 bolts

now your dust shield will get in the way of your bracket and your new rotor so you can chose to cut selected area off like so or just cut it mostly off like i did.


now i sprayed my calipers red so they brake faster

now i put new pads in the skyline calipers before i put them on and i used Bendix part number DB1170


and here are the next steps of putting the brakes on
bolt the nightpager bracket on as ou can see. now make sure the top is done up very tight cause i found it doesnt sit flat on your old caliper mounts that well which caused it to be on aslight angle if not done up all the way tight.


put the 3mm spacer on the hub before the rotor


slide the rotor on


then unbolt your brake line from your old caliper and bolt it up to the skyline caliper with a 14mm socket


and mount the caliper on the other to holes


this is what it looks like without the rotor on


and your done
this is what the brake look like over a 17" rim


and now a 18" rim

FFS, dont use a bloody grinder. Take it to someone with a lathe so its actually, you know, balanced.

yeh. i would recommend not to use a grinder, use a lathe or bench grinder cause the bench grinder allows the hub to spin so it gets a even grind

Mine came with hub-centric spacers so i used a angle grinder (FLAME ON) its is centered on the spacer been on the car for a while now and has been sweet havnt notice any vibrations on the road and through heavy braking

the bench grinder works perfectly fine and is machining bascially a perfect circle. ill even get pix to prove it once i get some spare time at work and finished them

I'll comment because what you are doing is wrong and the logic behind it is flawed. You are also recommending others follow in your fucked footsteps.

Perhaps take heed when several people who has done this shit a million times over suggest that this is incorrect.

It pleases me that you have no intention of coming to Victoria. If that is the standard of workmanship you are prepared to parade to the world, I fear for what is not revealed and the consequences of such retardedness.

Show me one person who knows anything about metallurgy and the balancing of rotational items, who would do it with a bench grinder.

All you have shown with your straw poll here is that the people who have posted in here about doing the conversion with the bench grinder have no idea.
